One thingto remember is that major changes to the shell will result in issues with the DVLA and getting the car back on the road.

Rules have changed and it is much harder now.

There is a guy who inserted a 2.6l 380bhp Powertec V8 in the front of a spaceframed racing Mini and, via the use of an old touring car gearbox, retained the FWD layout. Now I know that I'm probably well into the realms of fantasy here but in theory, if it'll fit in a Mini, it'll fit in a Golf...
