Alpine head unit
« on: 03 October 2010, 09:28 »
I've got the standard stereo in my Mk4 at the moment and I want to change it since it kind of works when it wants to. At the moment I've got connected to it a Nokia CK-7W bluetooth hands free kit, which was there when I bought the car.

I'm thinking of getting an Alpine CDA-117Ri which can be found here http://www.alpine-europe.com/fileadmin/PDF/Catalogues/2010_01/GeneralCatalogue_2010_LR_English_sec.pdf on page 6.

I can't seem to find any information on wheather or not the Nokia hands free kit is compatible with it or not, the website for the hands free kit only details compatibility with phones.

Any ideas? Thanks.

the nokia kit will work with any stereo
you just need to connect the yellow mute wire from the nokia to the pink/black mute wire on the alpine

Right, bought the CDA-117ri. Lovely unit. I've made sure the 'dimmer' cable is connected, but the radio doesn't dim with the rest of the interior lights, any ideas? Also, should the buttons be illuminated with the cars lights on even if the radio is off?

I'm guess those Alpine users here might know. Thanks.
