Have prices really gone that daft

Hi

I have been seeing 90's spec Gti's on ebay in no better conditon than mine for £12k +, is this the new market or is it just jokers trying it on?

Mine is only insured for £5,500 guarantees payout, makes me think I need to up this now on current market prices.

Over the last couple of months the prices for Mk2s seem to have risen - not sure why. Some sellers are a little too keen on values.
