Thread hijack.

Don't get too di-heartened with the car mate. We have all been there and done that, and some of us have given up. But I see you are perservering and you WILL reap the benefits. Keep it up, you're doing OK so far and its interesting reading.
Before you know it, you will be driving it!!

I'm beyond the point of no-return now anyway! Thanks for the comment though.

Bad light stopped play earlier, how early does it get dark now!? Tomorrow will hopefully involve :

Fitting new track rod ends to PAS rack and then the rack to the subframe
Fitting PAS stuff to engine - pump, brackets, pulleys etc
Finding/buying a rear engine mount
Bolting up the engine and gearbox
Going to GSF for some exhaust gaskets and possibly some studs and nuts
Bolting up the engine to the subframe
Fit it all into the car

As is the theme with this project so far, not even half of that will actually get done!

Btw, i will do a full picture write-up next week when i'm back in Oxford. I realise that these project pages are pretty crap without pics, but i've got to warn you i tend to gt carried away and forget about taking the pics.

Right, bed time

Engine is on the subframe and it's all waiting to be bolted up to the shell tomorrow monring. I'm completely knackered and because of that made a slight f**k up, but i'll explain about that some other time as right now i'm nodding off!

Engine is now in.

Tomorrow's (editied) list:

Fit air intake pipe thing
wire everything up (lights, rad fan etc)
sort out what needs to go where at the fusebox end
fit new exhaust
fit new fuel filter
Connect steering rack UJ to the steering column
Sort out gear linkages as i've just realised the bracket is trapped by the subframe
Fit remaining gear box bolts (2)
Tighten up inner CV joint bolts
Buy a power steering belt and sort out a bit of hose
Find 2 subframe bolts
Bolt up front callipers to hubs
Sort out the rust on the driver's footwell

turn the key, swear, hit something, regret hitting that something, walk away

It worked, then it didn't, then it did but would cut out when you try to rev it, then it wouldn't work at all, now it's fine!

Even though it's nowhere near finished, i'm still a relatively happy chappy
