Bought this mk2 on 1st April for the princely sum of £200 which if it didn't get bought, was going to go to our local scrappy!
Pics from first visit..

Milage.. 55K and bodywork suggests this is genuine, unbelievable
First step is to start 'De-Chavving' it.. Nice tints on all rear windows

Off
Next was the grill, like the pinstripe round them and would have probably been easier to buy one with it, but had a few rattle cans so masked it up and got on with it..

nice one mate, proper bargain. I get what you mean now lol
You got big bumpers front and rear? You painting the bottom half white?
-
Looks good mate and defo was a bargin!!
mk2 1.8t :lipsrsealed:
-
nah he's thinking of the more traditional mk2 engine

Yeah mate, the bits that are supposed to be, they were originally red from what i can tell  then painted black, horrifically!

mk2 1.8t :lipsrsealed:
nah he's thinking of the more traditional mk2 engine
Possibly! We shall see, with a 1.8t in my possession and the current value they are worth, it might work out cheaper using that, than selling and road tripping :lipsrsealed:
However i'm completely in 2 minds about this..
-
Nice look forward to the progress mate
-
Nice look forward to the progress mate
Likewise with yours!
-
Ive been working loads and losing interest to be honest need to sort it out and finish it.
-
better already
some wheels and a bigger engine will put it right up there
stick ur 1.8t engine in it, then break the rest :undecided:
-
Looks great got a soft spot for mk2s
Why was he going to scrap it? Looks too good to get scrapped?
-

good point
-
Couldn't sell it I don't think, was last attempt... Was up for £950 last year i've been told!
Only got 6 weeks MOT, and had no tax.. not that prospective to someone who just wants a cheap runaround I suppose!
These BBS on there must be the most boring design they ever made! RS or RM are on the cards if all goes to plan!
-
Great Find... Bargain price too...
Keep an eye on that sunroof for it leaking... Very 80's non factory unit...

I have been warned! No much I can do with it though?
-
If you want a four lamp genuine grill I have at least a couple lying about. Better than that de-badged rubbish whether it has a pinstripe on it, or not.

Bargainious
-
Looks a good find and a bargain price :afro:
-
£200 and almost a quarter tank of fuel? Bargain
Good save.
At least you got it before it went. I remember a few years ago seeing a totally standard 60k blue Driver in the scrappy, agreed a price, was going to save it as it had just arrived and was mint.
Come back 20mins later with cash to find it sitting squished under a Volvo.
-
Had it checked out by the .:WR mob and its definately a keeper, new shopping list acquired :lipsrsealed:
-
get them trims off the arches
get some small bumpers found
then, start on the shopping list
-
There might be a set of small bumpers sitting about round the back of that XR2 if you have a rummage.
Talk to Mike about them.
I think there are already other plans afoot.
-
Yes, and maybe a change again, Mike has just informed me of one you have already viewed, located at Chariots.. Also contains your favourite 3 letters
-
 i feel for you Dave, be strong, say NO
See ya sunday hoepfully :afro:

Yes bud, engine would end up for sale though to claw some pennies back i expect.... or not
-
Yes, and maybe a change again, Mike has just informed me of one you have already viewed, located at Chariots.. Also contains your favourite 3 letters
It is an UTTER POS... but for your purposes it *might* do.
The f*ck-nut who runs Chariots wants to be persuaded that the fact that it's still there after about two months of him thinking it's worth £350 should give him the hint that it's worth scrap value only.
-
would this be the one we have discussed before DH ?
-
Liking the mk2 mate, what engine does it have in it?
Finding a mk2 for my rally would be the dream, must keep my eyes open!
-
nige, there has been 4 on ebay lately, i was forbidden from buying anymore.
-
nige, there has been 4 on ebay lately, i was forbidden from buying anymore.
Yeah? Need to keep my eyes open for a local one. My mate refuses to buy anything without going to see it in the metal beforehand. Probably a wise move

Oh yes.

Real men roll with those bad boys

Well, went out WRHQ and found something very disheartening, my plans of no arches, no side trims and small bumpers came to an abrupt end.
Rear off side wheel arch..
Repairable, but not with my 'skillz'.. G60 arches and big bumpers it is then
Tom tidying up the exhaust cut out as it had been 'cut' and bent out the way to stop the Hellfrauds special exhaust knocking on it, I imagine.. (small bumpers looked alright too, eh Chuff!)
Mike the star did rear wheel bearing and can now hear my measly 1.3 purring away now the humming has disappeared!
The SJ will have some petrol bought for it for your efforts
Talk of donor cars has worked, and found potential victim

dave, team syncro is calling
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-LOW-MILEAGE-4x4-awd-1989-VW-VOLKSWAGEN-GOLF-MK2-SYNCRO-MET-GREEN-/330724025390?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item4d00b0242e#ht_3190wt_1263
-
Team Syncro at .:WR only pays a couple of hundred for their Syncros, so that one's WAY out of team Syncro's comfort zone.
-
It also appears to have too many doors Chuff!
I would have to convert a 3door over to RHD /tart over
Found wheels
-
wheels  but what pcd are they :lipsrsealed:
-
5 :lipsrsealed:
-
Porker rims dave?
-
No, not porsche.
Wanted RM but now going 5 stud and after a chat with Chuff, island roads and split rims aren't going to play nicely with each other and dishes are expensive
-

Increased motivation to get cracking, few hiccups but hopefully dealt with as of Sunday.
I cannot express the level of love I have for super sticky loom wrap when your trying to remove it all...

All part if the masterplan bud :afro:

To be fair it's not the car he's falling in love with, it's only the engine
It will end up a mk2/3/4 bastard child at this rate

It will end up a mk2/3/4 fatherless son child at this rate

Need a space to rent to get cracking with it :lipsrsealed:

Front and rear beam bought, mk3 8v GTI items, anyone know if a mk2 GTI compensator will work with it?
Also how to go about fitting the mk4 288mm setup to the front (Which hoses) and the standard mk4 setup on the back..
Also bought this  Best way to remove red stripe without messing the rest of it up? Talk to me..

Needs to be used til mk2 is finished
Plan was to keep mk2 on the road and strip the mk3 and get everything ready to fit it all in, now mk2 failed MOT on bits that are going to be replaced, the logical (possibly) explanation seems to be get the bits I need seperately and build mk2 and keep mk3 as daily... The key I believe is to never make a plan

Mine

Solid or two-tone, that is the question

Solid brown looks really good

see, told you dave, solid brown, :lipsrsealed:
good job you swapped over which one we really wanted

Both look sweet but I'm gonna go against the grain here and opt for the two tone jobbie. Love those rims and chromed window trims.

After what I understand was an epic session of endurance swearing last night the subframe is off the car.
I had some spare minutes out at the barn tonight, so the engine mount came off and the new rear mount went on:
Then I went for a wander among what has been christened 'the engine maze' until I found a CDA gearbox and whipped the mount off that. After cleaning the threads up on the 1.8T gearbox the mount bolted straight up.
So it needs the front mount adding and the old gearbox mount removing.
Then it wants offering up on the G3 subframe, into the bay and test fitting.
Rod-change mech needs to come out, sharpish, Dave. Cable-shifter needs to go in.
-
good progress,
perhaps a change of thread title.
Everyone but Daves Mk2 project
-
Thanks very much Tom! I need to start thinking about the actual mounts now, think g60 rear and 2 16v mk3 ones after my recent web findings.
Chuff, I did take the subframe off Thursday, came into unforseen circumstances and got pretty damn annoyed with the thing! Luckily, James was there to listen to my rantings..
-
Nothing worse than unheard epic swearing.
-
Changed the mk4 calipers over onto the mk3 carriers, side by side I couldn't see much difference, but it worked, so that's all that matters

dave, saw mention of saving for an LSD. what box are you running and what diff are you opting for? i am hoping to do this to my 02a next year.
-
Was going 02A, but 02J now, believe that if you buy a LSD for 02A, will fit 02J and vice-versa though..
Whatever I fancy at the time when the money is there i guess
-
Dave couldn't make it tonight.
Which meant he wasn't in the way, so I could crack on.
Tab removed from bracket and 02A bolts to mount.
Definitely fits in the 'ole, on the G3 mounts:
Needs at least one joint on the steering column replaced, or the shear joint thingamy released as the G3 rack is fine spline, the G2 column is coarse spline.
The other issue that needs addressing is how the G4 shifter bolts up into the G2 shell.
Then we need to figure the intercooler pipework.
So, should be sorted shortly, as I'm sure Dave has been pushing on with the loom.
-
He hasn't picked up the inlet manifold from me yet
Good opportunity to spray the engine bay the right colour?
-
nice progress Dave ,. . . . . . . . . . :lipsrsealed:

you had that curry already
Yes, been and gone
YOU are pro-rustoleum so shhhh!
-
looks like its gone into the tin
-
So its a sort of medium coloured turd then. I look forward to the outcome of this, all the reviews on it I've seen have been good but with little, or poor quality photographic evidence of the outcome. Was seriously considering doing it to the Rado before it all went Pete Tong.
-
Will soon find out bud, paint on mine isn't too bad, but have a door that's the wrong colour, cheaper to do this than respray the door!
-
He hasn't picked up the inlet manifold from me yet
Good opportunity to spray the engine bay the right colour?
sure it will be in and out a few more times yet mate, engine bay will also be getting done sh1te brown, fear not!
-
No pics, but mk4 shift tower was offered up, then angle grinder came out to 'make it fit'.
Still a way off yet as have to make some bracketry up, but it sits in roughly the right place from underneath, and felt like it was in the right place from the drivers seat.
Crossmember and wishbones brought back with me to be sandblasted and hammerited.
Engine back out again
-
More progress
Engine bay; cleaned, rust removed and treated, painted.
It's like Jacko in reverse

Took a while but ready to house the engine now, which I have got temporary cam cover for while mine is being polished, and also a satin black inlet manifold and throttle body, from Wazzzer
-
How did u get on with the mk4 selector fitting? I'm debating if its worth cutting my mk2 abit to make it fit. A lot of work?
-

you can cut the shift tower itself up and sort it out that way, i'll find the thread for you to see..
-
I take it you mean gear shifter? The tower is the bit that goes in the gearbox. You can make it an easier fit by using a polo diesel / Ibiza/ lupo shifter housing.
-
Yeah the shifter :embarassed:
Here's the thread.

Let us know how it goes and take some 'after' pictures of the shifter box, will be attempting this Thursday I think..
-
i had it sat in there supported by wood underniether. fits nicely buddy. ill take pics for you though
-
Yeah, I've got the metal frame out from underneath the car, or 90% of it anyway, just be interesting to see the actual shift box bit after you have hacked that about..
-
mines out enough, just ggotta drill 2 holes and them make the mount bracket. simples... :lipsrsealed:
-
Small updates, but updates none the less..
I've taken the rear bushes out the control arms, ready for when the Powerflex ones arrive, front ones are solid anyway and decent condition, also sandblasted them ready for paint.
Also blasted the crossmember, both bits although you can only see one in this, which is also getting the Powerflex treatment.
Started doing my wheels, but there's way to many spokes and got bored. Started doing something else to them, which i've only partly finished and you will have to wait for pictures until happy with them.
-
I do wish you'd prep things before doing work on them!
Get that front mount off and those bushes out before you do anything more to that front crossmember.
If the large bushes on the control arm are to be replaced, provided they're the same diameter as the G2 ones you hsould fit TT bushes - they'll last longer and be WAY more precise.
-
Too late TC! Hasty
Mount needed painting too
-
What kind of blaster have you got?
and +1 for R32 bushes did it on mine after stitch welding them too.

Dave was suffering from a caffiene crash last night - there are a few updates after last night and when he's recovered (or taken more ProPlus) I suspect there will be some photos.
-
good thing you saved it. :nerd:
-
Brake servo acquired and semi fitted.
Picked up some front carriers and calipers from a mk3 VR6, wire brushed, painted ready or fitting. Saves the hassle of spacers/conversion hoses as was only going mk4 288mm anyway.
Rear conversion hoses have been bought, so should have pretty much everything I need to stop now, although will need a 16v master cylinder somewhen
-
Get a SEAT one like me mates its 23mm rather than 22mm so an even better peddle feel :)
-
Rear conversion hoses arrived over the weekend, so rear end should be pretty much sorted now, bar disks and pads.
Ordering master cylinder tomorrow and probably a reel of brake line to renew them all.
Cambelt will be changed Thursday and hopefully ECU sent off somewhere this coming week too.
-
Shiny bits
Copper nickel brake line to renew the lot

Conversion hoses here for the rear
(http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f11/Wellowpartys/IMAG0657.jpg)
and finally, decent set of suspension  (Unlike the pictures!)

Hope they're not too low
-
Get some brake unions for those lines, boyo.
Mike might be the best source, to make sure they're the right ones.
-
Jeeze this not finished yet :lipsrsealed:
-
Too much gym, not enough car.
-
cheaper and quicker to have bought one.
cos its not as if you can say built not bought.
more like built for me, not bought

-
So tonight I, yes read I, bolted the wishbones back on, and attached hubs (50% anyway) ready to fit the new suspension..
Going to need many more sessions at the gym unfortunately, Mikes Audi still isn't a runner!
-
Cambelt, tensioner, hydraulic damper and water pump changed tonight on the engine by my own fair hands! (Yes you read that right Chuff )
Under the watchful eye of master mechanic Mike of course..
1 step closer
-
Well done dave - I am guessing the engine was still out of the car though

Deimmobilised ECU back from R-Tech..

Another cracking night of progress last night.
Petrol tank with mk4 pump in
Fuel lines in
Brake servo in
Master cylinder in
Gear shifter (02J) in
Rear shock assemblies in
Rear beam poly bushes in
Every old brake line off
Re lining the whole car well underway
Dodgy bias valve looked at
-
delivery of a couple of things today: braided lines for the front and the shell to beam. Also importantly the banjo bolts for the rear conversion hoses, which Dave couldn't get anywhere on the Island.
also something which perturbed me about some other hoses is that they appear to pull through the holes in the beam, so I've got some M12 washers to allow the spring clips to hold everything in place properly.
Oooh and we have another couple of workshop mugs, from my mate Dave, aka Futbus, who provided the HEL hoses.

It's not exactly exciting:
There was a fuel tank in it before; there's a fuel tank in it now
There were brake lines on it before; there are some brakelines on it now.
There was a gear-shifter in it before: there's a gearshifter in it now.
OK, I'll concede that the gear-shifter's a bit interesting, as it's a Golf4 cable-shift which has been diced down and mounted up in a devilishly cunning way, but that's it at the moment.

Mk4 rear calipers and Weitec's.

Dave, please buy some:
5X100 wheels - don't care what they are, but ideally VAG OEM 15" and they should have f*cked tyres on them.
Front calipers that have the right hose input.
Thanks.

For those who wanted photos of progress, we have a great GolfGTI Forum spot the difference competition:

Have fun kids, but remember print it out first before you start circling the differences with your pen.

Rear axle, wiring loom, fmic, engine hoist, bottle jack...contrast? Boy that was fun!

this poor car wont know whats hit it if the worst happens

So it's mk3 shafts after all. :smug: I assume it's wide track.
-
So it's mk3 shafts after all.
If you had any actual experience to hand instead of speculation you'd know that the long shaft was far too long - the strength of the shaft was not the issue. If Dear Brad had been running them it's a mystery how he was, as it must have been a good 50mm too long to allow the lower ball joint to even be secured.
I assume it's wide track.
Yes.

Yes.
Obviously doing something wrong then dear Damon!
MK3 shafts are needed. Not 02J which are longer.
Do some research. There's a whole thread dedicated to it. Here i'll help (http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?220814-THE-%28long-overdue!%29-Definitive-Wide-Tracking-FAQ&highlight=widetrack).
-
Do some research. There's a whole thread dedicated to it.
Unfortunately due to the unique and moronic way in which other Golf forums work, which mostly involves shoving your head as far up Chris Eyre's arse as possible that thread says nothing about 02J threads, even when Dear Brad asked.
Now Dave and I did our research, practically by test-fitting the 02J shafts but Dear Brad just asked on Chris Eyre's numpty fest.
So, we know through experience that 02J shafts don't fit.
You've said apparently Dear Brad has snapped one, yet I contend he could not have snapped one as they don't fit on a Golf3 wide-track set up, because they're too long.
I think you'll find we're doing enough research ourselves, why don't you run back to shove your head back into somewhere Chris shines his strange light from?
-
Come on now Damon! Grow up a bit. Is that why you got your boy to ask the question? Still angry about not being allowed on that forum?
The driveshaft was fitted to brads car and it snapped at the CV. Because you didnt do it it must mean its false? Maybe you're not man enough eh?
Infact, I do feel sorry for ya, cos i know you're one ugly cnut and it looks like you've had your head somewhere where it shouldn't be? :lipsrsealed: No wonder you wanna be like Damon Hill!
Tada :afro:
-
Oh dear.
You smell of dog food.
Here's the thing - I do not see how the long G4 shaft could have possibly fitted to Dear Brad's car, because it is SO much too long - it simply does not fit. Maybe Dear Brad can confirm.
No, I didn't ask Dave to ask the question - he's quite autonomous, although does ALLAN! from time to time.
And no, I'm delighted I'm not on that other forum, because it means no one's snooping through my PMs or doing anything else nefarious, as has been alleged by various people.
Maybe you should find out why I'm not on that forum?
-
Did you actually read what was said? Or were you too busy licking you're own arse?
He said the LONG driveshaft D.I.D'N.T fit! I repeat, the LONG driveshaft D.I.D'N.T fit!
He fitted the short one and the CV joint snapped.
use mk3 gti shafts, mk4 fits on passenger side but is too long on drivers side

Not perfect, but certainly the result I was after

They were really badly corroded which is why I give them the once over, sandblasting will clear up the actual alloy corrosion/bubbling too!

oi dave post up a piccy of the back of your engine block.
think i've found an alternative driveshaft solution for you, haveing a sort out and found the last 2 equal length driveshaft kits hideing away allong with some tasty shafts.
makes both shafts the same length as the short shaft so less torque steer and there pritty much unbrakeable iirc they were garanteed upto 500 bhp / 500 ftlbs with lsd and slicks
-
Engine in at the min mate, but will hook it out next time I'm out there and get one, don't think I have got any of the back.
Sounds very good though bud, and also update me on the progress of slippy diff talks

some have allready arrived,
got to open one up to check its made to speck then make a frame so can do some testing have a very big electric motor to play with for that

paint it dave , PAINT IT NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Pulled the engine and box out of this tonight and routed in the rear brake line to where the compensator will go. When Dave remembers to bring it out. Also made up and installed the t-piece and hard-lines to the rear flexi-hoses.
It's getting to the point where we need the loom sorted and in, then we'll figure out the plumbing for the motor and then it'll be perilously close to being there.

More bits done/sorted/forced...
Looks like buckets & harnesses are essential, cage completely interferes with standard seatbelt positions.
Also decided that carpet & sound deadening were non essential and it's going to stay all white, bar the cage, which will end pink

Bias valve bolted in

Agreed

Wow.... this has really come on since I last saw it... Come on, keep it going!

Been trying to get some unions locally for bias valve and failed miserably, unusual threads.
Hopefully found what I need now on eBay.
Must remember to take swimming shorts and snorkel out there next time, footwells are bit moist
-
Coming on well mate. Its the finish bits which seem to take ages.
-
One of many packages to hopefully arrive before Thursday night, arrived.
Seat slider to let the giants that will probably drive my car on trackdays etc. actually fit in it.
This should be followed up shortly by weld in subframes and bias valve connections. Happy days.

That was absolutely dire! There's one thing that I cannot stand, that's gone off milk! The fact I could see the furry bits sliding down the side of the bottle when Al was tipping it down the sink was truly vile, horrific and past my levels of tolerance!
However, well pleased with my welding (perfectly safe Wes :lipsrsealed:)

Some good progress tonight.
An expert called in to advise on cage according to the Blue Book, confirmed what we had in mind really.
Feet cut off the front part of the cage ready to shorten the legs to fit onto the spreader plates.
Floor plan cleaned of about 80% of its wax stuff, rear corners scurfed up ready to weld the spreader plates in when we're happy with exact position of cage.
Door bar brackets removed from front part of cage to be welded on at a more appropriate height (and even both sides ).
Gearbox removed from engine and brought back to the works bench that is my dining table for surgery, loom also brought back ready to be hacked down as far as it needs to be.
Thank you Mr DH, real sense of direction after tonight, certainly moving on in the right manner!
-
I thought we might also use something more substantial than bird sh*t when re-welding bits of the cage, too.
Just a thought, like.
I didn't think I'd ever find myself chipping off the tarry rubbish from another Golf floor. How wrong was I?
-
I did think about saying 'bet you didn't think you'd be doing this again?' last night, but didn't want to kerb the enthusiasm!
Many thanks Mr C!

Gearbox split, technical stuff discussed, casing to all be cleaned.
Still have to buy bearings, shims, sealant etc but interesting to find out how things work
Tomorrow may see cage feet completed, all the sound-deadening stripped from the floor and maybe first few steps towards sorting the loom.
Happy days :afro:

Looks good mate, would be afraid to do that, nice work

Dave was afraid too, VERY afraid
-
Looks good mate, would be afraid to do that, nice work
So was I
Had VW 's top protégé mechanic on the case and when you actually pull it apart, you can work out how it works, relatively easily.
Still need to drill the rivets out of crown wheel to swap over to new diff but have all of the monthly 'car budget' to spend at the dealers on Tuesday when they reopen so will slow progress on everything else.
Lucky I've got a big box of wires to keep me busy for a while :lipsrsealed:
Not that much to buy now though;
4x Toyo t1r / 888
2.5"Jetex
Diff fitting things
Non PAS aux belt
Passenger seat fixings
Front braided lines
Vr6 MAF housing
That will get me somewhere pretty close
-
Cage cut and in the right place, almost.

Need a bit of gentle persuasion, but it's certainly not bad.
Need brackets welded onto legs of cage, feet are tacked in already.
Also need to finish off last spreader plates for the rear 2 points, unfortunately they are being made out the worlds toughest 3mm steel, with the worlds most rubbish cutting disks

I think he's been overcome with emotion at this point.
Either that, or his head is full.
-
Well, from the above post, you might be able to gather, tonight, has been loom night.
Please take note, I had NO idea what I was doing, even with the most thorough diagrams available. This is real headache stuff. Luckily the wiring demigod that is Mr Trigg from VW was at hand to show off his skills.
By the end of it, I actually had a pretty good idea what was going on, every engine plug has been labelled, no matter how obvious it is, every wire from the ECU has been labelled and virtually all the wires that are to be run inside the car have got what type of connection they will need, also what amp they are to be fused.
This is an absolutely monumental step in getting this thing finished, really can't thank Mike enough for his help.
All the wires coming inside will have to be extended towards the fuse box, but with everything labelled up correctly and checked, should make things pretty easy. I'm 90% sure that we can put CE2 plugs on the end of most things to now make this fully plug and play which will help immensely if the worst ever does happen when this finally reaches the road/track and everything needs to be reshelled.
This is how it is now, I'd say over 85% of the wiring I had was unused, this, is a good thing!
Full OEM setup, working diagnostics port and every sensor catered for and working.

Shame I've got work tomorrow, else I would be getting very, very drunk!

1 year and 2 days we've been together
1 year ago, it ran

You're starting to hang around like a bad smell.
Oh, hang on you're hanging around AND there's a bad smell.
Good job you make kn0b-free tea and you're a giver and a taker.

Dave learning another new skill.

I think he's been overcome with emotion at this point.
Either that, or his head is full.
Lol, am so not looking forward to have to tackle this, just seeing that picture fills me with dread!
Another good job mate mate your getting there, lucky you got some good help!

Indeed, wouldn't be anywhere near where it is now otherwise :afro:
Wouldn't have been anywhere near such a crazy build either though

Some real progress there mate :afro:

Cheers fella, hope to get abit further with cage tonight.
Bricey's springs are top priority tonight though I think

FAIL.
Did a test weld 3mm plate to VW steel of the gauge we'll be welding the footplates on to:

-
As I know nothing about welding etc, is that not good?
-
Got to love abit of deep penetration
That's DH's skills, mighty fine ones too, mine looks like bird sh!t!
-
Oh and there was a proper drill and chisel session on the diff from Dave's gearbox too.
Rivets all gone now.
crownwheel ready for insertion into new diff.

Fits on like a glove too, just need to find these bloody bearings
-
Dave have you tried a company called CTS?
-
Finally picked them up today, they've been over on England for a while waiting for me to collect.
Just need to stretch some Wanli Ditchfinders on and they will be ready to bolt on

Pack it in you, see you Friday

Bearings for gearbox have arrived.
Rear cage feet made and boxed off.
Other 4 cage feet will be boxed off Sunday.
Sleeves to drill, cage to paint, then can be bolted in for probably the last time.
The last two words of previous sentence cannot come soon enough! I've seriously lost count the amount of times that thing has been in and out now, however, ever closer
-
Turns out you CAN teach someone patience.
Tis all starting to look like progress.
-
Sounding good! Looking forward to some pictures
-

Very hard lesson to learn, but it's starting to sink in now...
Sounding good! Looking forward to some pictures
I'll get some of cage feet on Sunday, I remember all that template cutting too well, then putting the cut steel in and still having to mess around with it many times!
May aswell do it to the book though, seats, harnesses etc can all be changed easy enough to comply to the regs, the cage, you might aswell do it right the first time, the feet are not a quick bolt in, bolt out job like the other bits!
-
Yeah I was talking to DH about the feet plates being spread the tool some measurements and have made some plans
I know what you mean, downloading the blue book now and printing it out to keep at hand
I want to do everything perfect (not always got the knowledge) so may keep asking you and DH questions
Hopefully be on the road for summer but we will see
Wouldn't mind the vag action day at Combe
When you hoping to have it done??

He's a wiser man than me
Finish date? When it's done mate, no idea and not too bothered.
When it's finished, it'll be done right, that's the main thing, more so than how soon I can get it done.
Hard lesson to learn that one. Massive learning curve for me and I'm enjoying it all, so why rush
My birthday is August 19th, would kind of be a decent present to myself to have it done around then
-
I did slightly gather :laugh:yeah I do know what you mean but I can't help but have a little bit if excitement
But just as you said I want to do it all properly so if there is something that turns out to take more time than expected then so be it
End of the day missing out on this summer is better then something failing and causing an accident and then missing all the future summers!

yes, but your off buying another set of wheels for it, when you should have bought the exhaust
but you are now getting there, even I have had more input into it, since starting all off with Danny, all those years ago, when we ripped out its old heart
-
Lots of interests in the cream Recaros you sleep with when you stay over  in the mk4 section, leading to a classifieds thread.
The sale of those will cover the exhaust, then it's just getting it together, on the road and remapped again.
All good things come to those who wait, hmmm, it is Friday afterall
-
Then just gotta get it painted brown

How is the LSD coming along, you finished fitting it yet?
-
How is the LSD coming along, you finished fitting it yet?
Not yet mate, bearings are here, case is clean, just have to wait for the technician (Triggnician) to arrive!
Still have to buy the shims and stuff yet, looking at diesel 5th gears too... Might help on a European road trip!
-
Lol, guess it would be rude not to max it out as your allowed! Hope you doing a how to guide could come in handy!
-

I could certainly take enough pictures to do one actually.
Your not going to need one though if I'm right about your next project :lipsrsealed:

I wouldn't mind a little guide
Speeds up the job a little bit

Will get loads of pictures mate, the gearbox, although having loads of stuff in there is quite simple after seeing it.
Aslong as you keep most of it together, there's only like 4/5 individual items you need to worry about!
This may change when we actually get to fitting it, but I don't think it's going to be that bad.
Bolt crown wheel up to new diff, press on new bearings, assemble back together in case, check for end float, shim to whatever tolerance it needs to be, then put it all back together!
All sounds easy written down, the practical test might be harder than the theory though
-
No mention of dropping bitz on the floor
And forgetting to undo a bolt

That bolt! Whhhhhy! Why was it there! Even the Triggnician didn't get that one!
New bolt is here though, didn't like that particular one anyway
-

It was the Jesus bolt. As in:
"Jesus Christ, what the f*ck is that bolt doing there?!"
-
I have seen in gearboxes before and know they look scary although if you take a min to look and think you can quite easily figure it all out its just havin a guide saves having to think as much

Not necessarily mate, dont think you know what the next project is, its going to be good!
-
Massive progress on this today. All except one of the feet is ready for full welding to be completed on it.
Credit to Dave for his work on the fitting up of the steel for the feet - it's a really neat job. Just need to complement it with a LOT of welding wire.
-
Dave needs after-sun after Saturday's marathon tacking session.
-
Welding tan is really over-rated, all the tingling without any progress!
-
I'm always the same when tacking up and only wear a mask when doing runs, skin cancer here we come. :lipsrsealed:

When you're finished yours I have one across the water in Pompy you can do, thanks.

It's quite an ordeal, ever closer now though.
5/6 feet welded in. Thanks DH
Fire extinguisher only had to be used once

Also the loom was powered up and we were able to communicate with the ECU.
Another really important step forwards.

Nope, just showed me a multitude of fault codes, deleted them all, which came back straight away.
This is good because all the sensors are obviously unplugged and everything is working how it should

no mention of the deadline dave, little outing in september

Exhaust should be making its trek down to me somewhen this week.
Another thing crossed off the ever shrinking purchase list

Where's the zaust from? Custom?
-
No mate, it's a magnex thing I think, important bit is that it's 2.5" all the way through :afro:
Got 3 silencers in it though, that might get changed reasonably quickly
-
you found an exhaust then
-
Ahh sweet
Just gotta try make sure if not too loud! One thing I'm worried about with mine is it exceeding the noise limits on track!
-

Yeah
Ahh sweet

Most seem to be about 90db, that pretty damn loud.
Carbs or ITB's might struggle but turbo is a noise reducer anyway
-
I dunno haha
The daily with the 3inch system is fine on Rickover but pretty loud on drive by but we will see!
Need to find somewhere to get it tested once its done
-
Think I was one of the first people to import one of those, JDMHONDAPARTS one yeah?
Before I fitted mine, was taking it round everywhere trying to get the middle box taken out as didn't think it was going to be loud enough!
-
Possibly! When did you get yours? Seems to have boomed since I bought mine in the summer and the thread got like 40 pages haha
-
2/6/11 it was sent...
I messaged matey saying I would be setting up a group buy on here if anyone was interested and he knocked £20 off..
When it got here everyone was asking for pictures and didnt end up waiting
-
2011?? A year before me then haha
-
Yeah, a lot of random searching through all of eBay and managed to find it, bought mine, shared link... Boom! Was like an American exhaust invasion
-
 tis a bargain though!
-
Cage feet fully welded in, top job by DH, some really tidy welds
Just the actual feet on end of cage to be welded on permanently and it's ready to bolt in after drilling rear plates for the bolts! Happy days
New fuel lines sourced
And a random but exciting purchase for the inside aswell, just got to find its way here from Malaysia
-
Drivers side front foot all finished:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/diamondhell/20130430_225539_zps5deecd24.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/diamondhell/media/20130430_225539_zps5deecd24.jpg.html)
Needs some cup-brush action over the lot of it and then plenty of primering.
-
Will look good when it's painted
-
Finished off welding the feet on the cage tonight.
Also drilled the sleeves that connect the front and back sections of the cage.
Fitted it all up and marked out the rear stays for bolt-holes too.
Basically the cage is now finished.

Beast.

strange to have a table in ya garage dave . . . . . .
-
Definitely a garage - there's cement, gearbox casings, an exhaust, extension reel - SO many things.
-
You missed out the set of rims
-
4 tail lights, centre console, 2 grills etc etc etc...
And that's just downstairs
-
Very nice!
-
And that's how
living rooms garages should be
-
Rear cage landings drilled up.
Door bars pondered over.
Bucket seat sat in.
New steering wheel held.
Exhaust delivered.
-
Forming the rear strut brace:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/diamondhell/20130509_220422_zps4d83f32a.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/diamondhell/media/20130509_220422_zps4d83f32a.jpg.html)

:afro:
-
Rear strut brace spreader plates made and welded onto turrets nicely tonight.
Just need to cut CDS to length and profile ends and we will have substantial/correct bar to mount harnesses on.
Also rear turrets were seam welded to strengthen things up abit.
-
One side:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/diamondhell/20130510_230336_zpsceaa719e.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/diamondhell/media/20130510_230336_zpsceaa719e.jpg.html)
t'other side:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/diamondhell/20130510_230344_zps2bc1acf1.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/diamondhell/media/20130510_230344_zps2bc1acf1.jpg.html)
I stopped seam welding after the first turret, as the seams need cleaning really aggressively, as there's still paint in there after they've been scurfed up and it flares up and contaminates the weld - really not happy with the finish. The steel of the arches under the turrets is also bloody thin, too. Not a happy welding combination.
-
Loving the work, done properly! Am locked and have been, need to know the ins and outs, so will be coming to you and DH soon for advice.... got to be done right
-
i`ve been looking for your build thread in the mk2 project section thinking "perhaps he`s not making a thread ". then i found this. nice work dave..
-

Never bothered with the mk4 but decided to make one for this.
Good to look back to the beginning every now and then to regain motivation in times of need
Tonight, disassembled the door bars to cut and re-weld at the right length to suit me. Bit of a battle between access to the car vs room with seat but think we've got it, hampered by the fact the brackets that connect set subframe to the bars that attach them to car are NOWHERE TO BE BLOODY SEEN!
Sure they will be in the last place we look DH, just we haven't found that 'last place' yet
Rear strut brace / harness mounting bar has been profiled, fitted and welded in.

Old news, sourced a plug for the mk4 pump with enough wiring to reach where it needs to go and also some mk4 fuel lines, these have 90degree elbows on so they fit under the panel which reveals pump, no butchering needed.
Cage is NEARLY close to being painted and finished, this I can assure you, can't come soon enough
-
Lack of these sodding brackets made for a LOT of tidying up tonight.
-
Looking good mate, can't wait to see it finally on the road...
-
home made cage i take it dave?.. what steel did you use?. i want a cage for mine but i aint paying £800 for an omp one..
-
The cage is based on a 6-point bolt in.
It makes most sense as you get the main and front hoops already bent up.
Material should be CDS minimum. Specs are in the Blue Book.
-

Can get a cage from ebay, as long as you can weld can mod it as you wish. Picked up this the other day from a corsa
(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n521/jonrandom/20130511_112420_zpsc1ba810a.jpg) (http://s1138.photobucket.com/user/jonrandom/media/20130511_112420_zpsc1ba810a.jpg.html)
Needs a bit of work but I thought a good base to start from and for £36 cant complain!
Need to read through all the specs now get it ready before fitting.
-
NO, that's no good - the main hoop needs to be a single tube.
What you've bought there is £36 of scrap.
-
Those welds look like they will snap right off in an accident, jon.
-
Those welds look like they will snap right off in an accident, jon.
My welds or the welds in that Corsa cage?
-
Not yours, those welds on the ebay corsa cage.
-
The welds are f**king awful on it, loads of bits of unwelded wire on them, could do better with my eyes closed. It will all be taken apart and rewelded just now have the bends and some of the material to do it easier. Want to do it right that why im following this progress and asking to make sure
-
You cannot do it right with that tubing - there is no single main hoop.
-
Hi Jon, think you will be able to use a few parts off that, but you really want the main hoopS to be single bars.
Going to be a lot stronger mate :afro:
Jamie, won a OMP bolt in one off eBay for £221 mate, it's gone a long way since then though
-
Looking good mate, can't wait to see it finally on the road...
Me neither lol, the anticipation is immense!
-
2014 is looking good ...............................
-

doh.... gutted.. lol
i should be a dab hand at making one if i follow the rules..
being a plumber i`m used to bending pipes and ive welded before.. its just a case of hiring the tools.
i did have a mig welder too but sold it years ago... should be able to hire one or get a favour done to weld the bits together though without any problems.
loving the progress dave!... got my mot tomorrow, wish me luck...
-

Ok cheers, understand what you mean now I just thought you could use any bars as long as they were supported. Will now get full lengths and make the main loops properly and separatly and use the rest for filler. Cheers
-
loving the progress dave!... got my mot tomorrow, wish me luck...
Cheers mate, I look forward to reading your success story tomorrow :afro:
Back where it belongs, on the road, although you will have to cut more of the grass in your garden which will not be unobstucted by the car

Keep your eyes out on eBay mate, bending the tube to a spec I think we be a nightmare.
Would be easier for you if you could pick up an already shaped one second hand and adapt to your needs. Although even mine has been a bit of a ball ache, having the main 2 hoops being pre-formed cuts down on a lot of avoidable aggravation!
2014 is looking good ...............................
The piece of string that represents the build, well, from one end to the other is getting shorter, there's just no particular measurement yet
-
Dave's been at .:WR for four days on the bounce now, working on the Golf. There is significant progress.... OK, so maybe not as significant as we might like, but it's definitely progress and it's all goodness.
This includes Dave doing significant welding on the cage.
Really do need to find the seat mounting brackets and plates now!
-
Looking forward to the update
-
Crazy Old night but a very significant outcome.
The Quaife diff is in and the gearbox is back together.
Not many pictures as the focus was more on getting it in there rather than playing photographer.
Crown wheel bolted to diff with the proper ARP bolts, diff preloaded by 0.3mm.
All went back together rather swimmingly after we had decided on shim size.
Heated the new bearings on and they slipped on perfectly with no need to press them, helped by an official Volkswagen electric hob
Also the crown wheel was heated up on it to persuade it onto the diff.
Now back together, new bolts, new speed gear, new bearings, new diff seals, just need new O rings And some oil now.
All genuine bits, including the casing sealant , complete peace of mind that it's going to be good for another 90k and beyond, which is all the box has actually covered.
Didn't get to paint the cars floor which has now had all the underseal scraped/wire wheeled off, but it has had a generous lashing of brake fluid to make sure it's ready for the first coat.
-
theres still a few litres of pre paint kicking about out there dave  help yaself
-
Good progress Dave!
Quite a significant task completed keep it up
-
Was tired last night and that post lacked any emotion, im really f*cking happy thats back together to be honest!
Bit of wiring, bit of welding, bit of painting, bolt it all back together and turn the key, well happy
-
Not going to RTTS then?
-
He sure is, in a sh!t-shaped utility motoring sort of way.
Crownwheel being gently warmed prior to fitment:

Really good progress last night - great to see things starting to come back together.
-
Ha ha! Lovin the little electric hob!
-
That's one way of doing it
-
That's one way of doing it
VAG approved.
-
Lookin good mate. After seeing all this I think I'll stick with my standard diff lol
-
Yeah going to RTTS!
Worked a treat Steve
Might change your mind when you see what it can do Wes
-
See?! I'm hoping to feel the difference!
-
To keep this semi alive, put some new wheels on it.

Dave, tell the nice people about the progress, Dave.
-
Yeah Dave, update it Dave, update it noooow.
-
Well, I welded both seat rails in, couldn't get the welder set up right, but they were in there like swimwear. DH then came and added some finess to the job and welded up the places that were impossible for me
Cleaned 83% of the sticky stuff off the roof, that will hopefully be finished tomorrow, with a heat gun.
Then I have a plan for the interior
No pictures of anything done in the last couple of weeks, too lazy
-
The pro races are a good choice :afro:
-
The pro races are a good choice :afro:
Thanks Wayne, not keen on the looks atall but they are certainly light, which matters I'm told
-
Thanks Wayne, not keen on the looks atall but they are certainly light, which matters I'm told
It REALLY does - you need to drive back to back with some heavy wheels. You will be amazed.
-
Cleaned another 16% of the remaining glue off the roof, this left 1%, that's staying on there
Then masked up all the windows and sunroof and primed as much as I could out of two cans of black primer. Need to go and get a few more cans tomorrow as drastically underestimated
Then will wait til early next week before going at it with the satin black final coat.
Looks good though, must fun I've had with it for ages, almost starting to like it again
-
Good work dude
I really couldn't be bothered with the glue on the roof
Especially. After the cage was in!
Where are the pictures?
-
I really couldn't be bothered with the glue on the roof
I seriously don't blame you, at times it was just sprayed with brake cleaner and set on fire in the vain hope the rest of the car would go up with it too!
I took cage out to get at it, going to paint that separately then bolt it in later on
-
My cage took about 4 hours to get it in the right position and with the feet in there i don't see it coming back out without cutting the car to bits
So I just left it
-
I hope you've stuffed paper in the threaded holes for the cage mounts before hosing black paint over everything? :undecided:
-
Primer done, just need to buy a few more cans of top coat stuff for early next week for when i get to put actual colour on.
Takes a whole load of cans
Was coughing up black paint this morning, 8 hours after last nights session

Awesome
Coughin up paints not cool though! Why not wear a mask?
-
Awesome
Coughin up paints not cool though! Why not wear a mask?
I did today, hate the damned things though.
I've put a lot worse down my throat over the years
-
Haha I hate the small disposable ones but I got a half decent one with replaceable filters that is pretty comfy
-
Interior has had its top coat on and masking removed. Like it lots.
Bucket seats bought back home to have covers washed and be tarted up abit.
3mm foamalux bought for door cards, absolute bargain, hoping to get these done this weekend and the insides of the doors finished, just got to find some novelty door handles
Can put everything back inside the car then and should be that finished, bar a new indicator stalk that managed to snap itself while I was removing the dashboard.
Few bits of wiring to do, 5th gear back on the gearbox, engine in, driveshafts on, rag the sh!t out of it
-
Awesome
Still need to paint the cage?
Ive been tempted by the foamalux but decided to leave it for now as it can be done at a later date
Yes dave....the indicator stalk broke its self haha nothing to do with you whatsoever
Sounds awesome though dude cant wait to see the finished product but more importantly a update of how it drives
-
got to find some novelty door handles
Go Porsche stylee - string. We have suitable washing line at .:WR
Dave seems to have the wind in his sails for a change (instead of just in his pants).
-
Managed to get quite abit done last night, 5th gear back on (pain in the arse, managed to drop the selector arm bracket down in the hole and was about to launch it outside, but thankfully a magnet on a stick saved the evening/gearbox/enthusiasm).
Loads of engine bits back on, cambelt put on again, this time, not half a tooth out. New aux belt, just the right size for no power steering, the string measuring worked a treat.
Injectors in and rags out of inlet manifold, loads of other little bits like inlet bolted down, injectors in. Actually starting to look like an engine again.
Seats have been painted now, house stinks, so they can be put back together.
Cage is painted, but will be done again to match the rest of the plan I have for inside, either going to look pretty good or revolting, time will tell
Door handles have arrived, underestimated the size, I expect they would actually look OK in a Noddy car
Think I may take a trip to the BnQ kitchen department somewhen this weekend
I'll finally get some pics up of interior when it's all back in and painted and you can actually see I've done something
-
signature needs changing dave
-
Awesome progress dude!
It's Crazy how quick things start coming together when you paint the inside ect isn't it??
Actually makes it look like a car
Kept up the good work dude
-
Yeah mate, certainly injected some much needed enthusiasm into it.
Need to borrow a work van one night so I can get the cage back to mine and get it painted, unless I get the brush out at Wellow
All fun stuff at the min, got to love interior design (http://www.smiley-lol.com/smiley/drague/gay/gay.gif)

He's the Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen of the forum.
Without so much hair. And shorter. With no flowery shirts. Or the posh accent. And not nearly as poncey.
Basically he's like a sh*t Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen. With a Golf and a Citroen ZX diesel.

-
make sure you give me a shout then :afro:
You coming out for a few then?
Tonight, 5th gear torqued up, selector fork bolted down, everything checked to make sure it was still working before bolting the cups back on and filling the gearbox back up with oil
Gearbox then bolted back on engine, leading to a trip to VW to replace another bolt.
Release bearing borrowed off one of DH's MANY 02A's, thanking you kindly :afro:
Fuel pump wiring and rear light loom run down the side of car and put where it needs to be.
Mk4 battery tray mounted in the passenger side of boot behind wheel arch, an absolute perfect fit, like it's made for it :smug:
Still got a fair bit of painting to do before bolting the seats/cage back in for hopefully the FINAL time , hoping to get quite abit of the interior done over the weekend if I can fight the need for an ale session tomorrow night
-
Good stuff mate, I need to come out and have a good look at it again soon. Yes I'll be out for a few if I get plenty of notice
-
Dash in, dash out, dash in, cage in, cage out, vents fitted into dash, cage in
What a barrel of laughs tonight has been.

piccies or STFU
-
piccies or STFU
Now has 4.5/6 legs bolted down :smug:
-
piccies or STFU
You're going to have to take my word for it - there has been further progress.
He just needs to man-up and finish the wiring now.
The problem is that finishing the wiring isn't fun for Dave.
-
Very nice!
Looking forward to seeing the cage finished
-
Helllllloooooo daaaaaaaavvvvvveeee

What tried to investigate how a weld could have moved half inch after it had been fine for 2weeks previously?!
-
That's what happens when you look at stuff funny. Cut it out already.
Get some eye-bolt plates ordered up.
Have you checked the fuel hose is right?
Have you found some of those right-angle connectors you need for the tank?
What are next steps on powering up/firing the engine?
-

1. Seat now in.
2. Are they the things seat belts attach too?
3. No, Thursday.
4. We're the ones on mk4 lines still usable? If not £14 for those 2 clips!
5. Mike.
-
1. Seat now in. Good.
2. Are they the things seat belts attach too? Yes
3. No, Thursday. Good
4. We're the ones on mk4 lines still usable? You need connectors for the fuel filter and at least one of the elbows. If not £14 for those 2 clips! Grin and bear it. You'll be fine.
5. Mike. You need to get the ODB port hooked up with him - then you can find out what ails it, if it is not right.
-
4 isn't the mk3 fuel filter still usable.
5 diagnostics port is working already, tested.
-
Filter is fine, but we need ends to joint to it.
-
I'll have a gander tomorrow before getting excited about any kind of end.
-
I have seen evidence of this running last night.
-
-
I need hard evidence, Dave must have a video...
-
Come to Wellow.

Come to Wellow.

And then I take Wez out in the BMW.
-
Sounds like a proper manly date :afro:
However tomorrow is a no go as the missus is in London for a few days, I'll do my best for next week
-
Postman was busy today, then I was busy this evening running around everywhere swapping delivery notes for actual items
Good to see you, Wes :afro:
Although, did make me miss my mk4 a little bit
-
Awww. Got a feeling your Mk2 will make up for it mate :afro:
-
I bloody hope so!
-
lots more progress from Dave this week.... just needs an update.
-
Awesome!
Looking forward to the read!
-
Any updates Dave??
-
Front engine mount has been sorted.
Standard mounts did not fit, no idea if it was the subframe, crossmember, mount brackets, 1.3 shell or a combination of all of them.
Bought a solid front mount and milled it down 15mm to rock engine forward to clear master cylinder.
That was last nights progress, going out there tonight too so you MIGHT get another update later, unless I get sidetracked with ale consumption
-
Radiator is in place complete with hoses, slam panel bolted on, various hoses that were completely unnecessary removed and a few ports blocked off that weren't getting used.
Some good f**king around jobs sorted tonight
Had a quick measure up after the 16v radiator was in roughly the right place, looks like I might be able to squeeze a Wellycooler in after all
-
Wellycooler with 2.5" in/out lets.
This thing is huge, let's hope it fits

Nice one with the progress dude!
Get some more pictures up!
I'm sure you will have fun with the wellycooler
If I hadn't of seriously annihilated my back at work yesterday I'd have tried to have got something done this weekend but injured myself badly and won't be doing anything
If my calculations are correct, highly unlikely , Wellycooler should slip right in

Where there's a will there's a way!
Looks awesome dude!

Getting so close I can nearly smell the burning rubber.
-
Even bought some coolant for it on last trip to VW :lipsrsealed:
I've seen they have run out of room for more +'s on the bottle and now call it G13
-
Getting so close I can nearly smell the burning rubber.

Oh my lord! Progress!

IT HAS DOORS!
It also has both hip mounts for the harnesses done on both seats.
Now, here's a tough decision. What to do about the front brake hoses? It's running 288mm fronts, on widetrack hubs et al. One of the things people might not know is that the end of the hard lines is significantly different Golf3 to Golf2. So what do we do? Head to the scrapyard and pick up a set of hardline end brackets from a Golf3 and weld them to the inner wing on the Golf2, so it's possible to use standard lines, or leave the hardline ends where they are and have to get custom hoses made up by HEL..... giving the risk that if a flexi dies for some reason the car is off the road until a new custom hose is made up.
Tough call. I'm leaning towards the standard hoses and welded on brackets TBH.
-
I would too mate but being Dave he'll take the long and more difficult route
-
Not if he's guided by the scruff of his neck in the opposite direction he won't!
-
not welding in his freshly (ish) painted bay
-
Sometimes Dave does what he wants, I do what needs to be done, hence wielding the cup-brush inside on the newish paint to let in a new harness mount last night.
-
Jesus tittyfucking Christ! Actual progress:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/diamondhell/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-02/20140210_225409_zpsgmjm9de4.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/diamondhell/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-02/20140210_225409_zpsgmjm9de4.jpg.html)
Golf3 lines, Golf3 hard-line end. Both sides done.
-
and now.... brake system filled and bled up.
So, Dave - get yer man to sort the remaining wiring!
-
-
Why is this
STILL not finished
-
cos he is fannying about with his daily dog instead :lipsrsealed:
-
I have been gone for 7 months and nothin has happend I think it's time Dave either..
1/ sells it
2/ gets his arse into gear and gets it finished
3/ gets shot of the girlfriend as he is under the thumb now
Your choice David......

Don't want to cause a fuss, but this ran numerous times last weekend.

He was told that 18 months ago ...".........

This could be for sale people, please message me offers.
It's hard to put a price on something that you've been spending a lot of time and a lot of money on for so long, the emotional attachment means that it's worth far more to you than it's actually worth, I understand that.
Break down of decent bits;
AGU engine 90k
Loom 90% finished
Quaife diff in 02j
K03s turbo
ECU remapped and deimmobilised
Wellycooler
Wide tracked
Pro race 1.2 with 2 sets of tyres, Parada spec 2 and some R1Rs with loads of tread left on them
OMP rollcage
2 Cobra buckets with sub frames welded in
2 sets of harness'
Qpeng down pipe
2.5" exhaust system
Mk4 rear calipers
Deep dish steering wheel
Also have a MOTed and taxed 3 door GTI, alpine white again, 8v, that has;
Heated TT front leathers, working.
G60 rear bench.
Would ideally like to sell both together in one hit and get them both gone, remember, I'm on the Isle of Wight and you WILL need a trailer to take the turbo'd one away, they type19 GTI you can drive away.
Please inbox offers if anyone is interested, first place I've sort of advertised them before plastering them all over the facebook groups, cheers
-
:lipsrsealed:
-
Will accept offers on individual bits if there's enough interest in enough of it
