Which Re-map?
« on: 29 June 2012, 21:37 »
Hi Guys,
not been on for a while but after 16 months of owning my standard 11 plate im wanting to tweek my GTi. Mainly to unleash its potential and to beat my last years 1/4 mile time at Santa Pod(Bug Jam this time). I've read much deliberation of tuning speacialists & different products. I do about 6k miles/year and just want that exrta boost of a stage 1 remap.
Im in South Yorkshire and have considered: Revo remap, Superchips, pullman racing(expensive but only because of the warranty) and speaking to the Doc. Please let me have your views, Cheers

I've also had the wing mirrors wrapped in gloss black.....i'm sure this will help with the aero-dynamics over the quarter mile

I have Bluefin, it's great. Can return to standard anytime you like or need to.  Not saying its better than anything else, it's just the one I can comment on.

Does the superchip remap(if it works without flashing) leave history on your ECU for servicing/warranty perposes?
Sounds like a good choice for me. Priced at £365 at the moment but hard to understand how they do this and supply a hand held module for this price and Revo charging £500+  ??

The Superchips map is completely removed when you return to standard but the ECU flash counter is incremented each time you flash or remove the map.

If they check the flash counter then they would know it had been remapped but wouldn't know by whom.

I am in same position and am leaning towards APR as they seem to be very experienced with tuning these cars in the US, plus they have HQ just up the road from me in Milton Keynes which is reassuring for any issues which invariably modded cars experience time from time.

this can be reset when you map it back by clearing all the fault codes with VCDS. snoopy did mine for me and the flash counter is back to normal.

Is that the flash counter in the Advanced section of the ECU?

Doesn't seem to work for me, flash counter remains at new value.
