The Match and GT TDI make even more sense if you buy them used.

The Match that I was in a couple of weeks ago would be £20,775 new. 3 months old, with 4000 miles on it, the dealers had it up for £17,495. Considering the discount I got on my GT TDI (the same screen price when I bought it) as I had no trade in, I reckon with some decent haggling, it makes for exceptional value.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Golf match 2.0 tdi manual bluemotion tech. Great equipment, fair performance and epic economy.

Good one there Lee, you may have trumped the GT!

It'd have to be the 2.0 Match though, as you suggest, as my Dad has the 1.6 TDI in his Jetta and it's sh1te. The salesman must've seen him coming from a mile off (not difficult when you see the size of his beer gut!!  )

No, a 59 plate old shape which he bought new ignoring all my advice (and doesn't qualify for this section as it's a mk5 based). Mind you, he's retired and still done over 20k in it.

Best all rounder MK6, simple - the GTI 2.0t petrol. 207hp, fantastic handling, and 35plus MPG on a run. Performance, practicality, etc.

So for me unless you do intergalactic mileage..........

Granted, the GTI is an excellent all rounder, but money has to come into the equation, which is why I reckon a used Match or GT scores so highly.

Agreed, and this is why I started this thread on a GTI forum!  :smug:

I originaly said  a gt 140, ive had use of one  (match spec)the last 2 days and while im amazed at the mpg the MFD is displaying, God i am board to death, yes you save money on fuel not only because its more economical but because i don't want to drive for pleasure, i only have driven it when i have to, it's such a chore and just no fun at all. Can't wait to get back home a drive my Gti. So i change my mind to me the Gti is the best alrounder
