Post by: richw911 on 10 August 2008, 10:31
Everyone who got one from Gulfstream11 what did you use behind to make the GTI red?

Gulfstream11 has said most used red card, any other suggestions?

What about those red plastic biscuit boxes, the variety selection types.  Gives a good excuse to wolf down a load of bickies anyway!

Thats a great idea T_T (on both fronts ), as the electrical tape under the footrest on mine is starting to look a little shabby now.

What did you use for the white?

What did you use for the white?

Which bit do you mean?

I just used all Red for the GTI part and black under the rest of the gaps.

Ahhhh.  I saw someone else had used white under all the other bits that weren't GTI.

For me that would just get dirty too quickly.

Anyone got any suggestions for a rubber type backing to go under the blank holes?

Cough

Back on topic.

For the black rubber stuff - try your local tyre dealer, and beg for an old truck inner tube (or two - you gotta blow one up and go down the beach! ) - and trim the good bits from the tube to fit.  A couple of layers, folded from one piece of tube might do the job.

I can't really think what else would to the job - appart from grip mat - but that is full of holes!  :undecided:

....It all seems a whole lot of effort just for a footrest. What's wrong with the stock plastic footrest? - It's not slippy and it's easier to clean.

But it's also a dull bit of plastic up against the metal pedals.

To me it's something a bit different that doesn't cost more than a few quid.

When I'm motorway driving, that's how my left leg is kinda positioned, which is why I'm not used to having a footrest.

What did you use to stick the footrest to the plastic, Phil?
I still haven't attached mine. I'm waiting for my R-style pedals to arrive

....I don't get it. Who looks into your footwell and why potentially make the footrest slippy and also something else to need to keep clean?

Some of the new Sciroccos have rubber foot pedals.

But some people don't 'get' carbonfibre, so it's each to their own. :shrugs:

i think stainless steel foot rest plate looks nicer then plastic with dimples on it. As you say ETTO of course.

My footwell is regually regularly hoovered, and treat it as its my living room floor. My pet hate is a dirty footwell.

....Is that "regally" or "regularly" hoovered? - Answer I'm sure is both

You wouldn't like my footwell in Winter - It's what happens when you frequent the countryside. It's why I have the rubber foot matts and not carpet ones. It gets cleaned but it ain't pristine.

Of all the people in all the world to say this you would be bottom of my list. please refer to your very own project thread. Is that not your engine with a carbon cover, who on earth see's this i bet people see my pedals more than your cover.  :smug: Also in regard's to it being slippy it is only the brake that has rubber non slip, the loud pedal has a plastic insert and finally mr double standard's Robin so what if your foot slips off the rest just put it back on unless your's has special power's and does something more than mine.
And i know your going to tell me that the carbon cover is to carry on the carbon theme well that is the very same reason why this mod exsist's.

That's what's so great about the GTI culture - Modding is a big part of it but so is keeping it very stock/oem as Phil is doing.
