1990 8v gti engine tickover problem

hi there i have a black 1990 3 door 8v gti. but the engine ticks over erratically especially when i come to a stop occasionally stalling. can anyone help please :sad:

check the idle switch clicks, and the wiring to tbody isnt snapped :)
