Noisy exhaust !
« on: 02 August 2009, 08:45 »
Right, I've just put on Powerflow cat-back exhaust on the 8v. From the outside the exhaust isn't too noisy but inside there is loads !!

I have ordered some dynamat type stuff to line the boot with. Is this going to help much ?? The only other alternative is to replace the back box for a bigger silencer but I don't want to go through the expense of that again really

Any help or advice greatly received

Cheers

i have the same problem, although i got the mid section replaced and they put on a 'smaller' one and from the outside it sounds fine but on the inside it sounds like a tank

Do you not think the dynamat will help Wayne ?? The noise seems to be all coming from the boot. I'm also going to do under the rear seat.

You just have to find the right revs  if you are going between 2500 - 3000 revs on either heavy load or over running it seems to be worse then, just like a vibration noise from the back end of the car. Other than that it isn't too bad

I have the old stainless back box I had on before that I'm thinking about putting back on to try and reduce some noise

Worst thing is i have to set off to North Wales at 5 in the morning  gonna be deaf by the time I get there.

How big is the mid box? My PFlow is quiet, i did ask for it to be though
Worst thing i found with Pflow is that the rubber mounts they used were shocking also i had to adjust the position of the exhaust after a few months especialy when i fitted new mounts.
Exhaust is nice and tidy though pointless
