Thanks to tOm an Awsome package turned up today.

I decided to take advantage of Awsome GTIs black friday by buying Red 2.0TFSI coil packs and INA adaptors.

New brake pads have also arrived so I need to get them fitted one weekend and the TT strut brace. I've managed to get a few coats of paint on the charge pipe, inlet manifold and rocker cover but the crap weather is not helping.

I've also treated myself to a new boost gauge. I'm re doing the steering colum gauge holder as it works well but could look better.

At some point I'll buy a matching oil temp gauge and single nomad pillar gauge holder.

These have turned up from Awsome today. Again fast service thanks.

On thing I forgot to check before placing my order was if they where the correct ones to fit. These ones are round and the ones on the end of the cables are square.

Please someone tell me that they'll fit!!!
It's new brake fluid and discs and pads on the front tomorrow. Depending on how cold it is hopefully I'll fit the 42 Draft bushes and the TT strut brace. It'll be good to have brakes that work.

I thought I'd do a fitting guild for the 42 Draft solid shifter bushes. I bought the from Awsome on tOm's tip off http://www.awesomegti.com/42-draft-vw-shifter-bushing-set-mk4-5-6speed-my02-05

A before shot.

The play in the old bushes

First you have to remove the rubber bush. I pushed the nylon collar out with my fingers and removed the rest of the rubber with a knife.
.           You can see in the corners the diagonal that holds the rubber in.

As you can see there are two sizes of bush. The smaller diameter hole is for the side to side and the larger for the back to front.

They are to small a diameter to fit so the needed to be opened up a bit. I did this nice and slowly with a punch, oil and wet and dry.

When they just slid over the pin I oiled it lightly and slid it on (oh matron).

Then did the same for the upper part of the bush. Replaced the clip and all done.

There is no longer any slack in this part of the shift it's rock solid. It nice and easy to do. It just takes a bit of time to file them down.

Well that was a fun few days! Both kids have had high temperatures and been sick. We have hardly slept for three nights. My Mum and Antie have both got bad colds plus the usual Christmas drams. I'm ready for a brake!
I got as far as taking the air bag off my steering wheel on Christmas eve but then needed to use my car in a rush so still haven't fitted the 225 wheel. I have had chance to finally fit the new TSFI coil packs though.

As far as I know three of the old coil packs are getting on for ten years old. So it's hard to say how much difference there would be against new 1.8t coil packs (if any...). The engine starts much better and feels smoother on idle. Also driving the engine from cold it's smoothe also at low RPM. I only went around the block so I can't report further.
I'm hopefully going to the R Tech RR day on Saturday and getting a heat sheild and new filter fitted while
I'm there. So other than picking a AGU lump up. I need to buy spark plugs and other service parts for January. Then I have a few parts to fit:
Front ARB.
New boost gauge and finish off the holder.
Catch can and PCV deleate.
Painted rocker cover, charge pipe and inlet manifold with phenolic gasket.
225 steering wheel.
Pre cat lambda sensor.
Cup holder.
Interior LEDs that are on there way from Hong Kong.
Rear brakes (not yet bought but need doing).

Note to self: stop buying things and start fitting them!!!

^^^ What was all that about??? Guess I was a little drunk ^^^

Well I got messed about by a eBay brakers yard nob who I was supposed to be buying a AGU engine from to re build :censored: I was well pee'd off!
Anyway after a month of waiting I received a AGU inlet manifold today (got to love eBay).
I've seen photos of comparisons between large and small port before. I was still surprised at the difference in the flesh. Especially the size of the runners!
BAM on the left AGU on the right.

A few more things arrived today

I haven't tried the unibrace copy yet. The seller didn't think it would fit but I'll have a look later. I'm not 100% sure if I like the number plate surrounds but we'll see.
