Have you checked the metal runner rail which the front seats are located on. They are used to enable the seats to be moved forward and backwards. Specifically at the extreme rear end of these rails are some plastic pieces which are not securely attached and this causes rattles. Also note that sometimes noises in the cabin can not come from where they seem to and a passenger may help in locating the source of the noise.

Check the rear seat backrest latch mechanism - a common source of rattling (tapping?) from the rear of the car’s cabin near the rear door / seatbelt area in many VW (and VAG) models; I’ve had it in previous VW’s and so have some members on the forum.

Often, there’s free play between the latch in the seat backrest and the metal loop that the seat backrest latches onto when it’s in the upright position. A quick, cheap and easy fix is to wrap some electrical insulation tape around the metal loop to remove any free play. If the tape does wear through from repeated lowering and raising of the seat backrest then just replace the tape with a new piece.

I had a tapping noise on the offside coming from around the seatbelt area. Some fiddling found it to be the rear door card right in the corner just next to the B pillar. Took it to the dealer and they changed all the door card clips which solved it. Mine is a 7.5 but fairly sure the clips and their fitting won't have changed.

Also Check the rear pull down arm rest where the cup holders are for rear passengers, this part makes a rattling sound. Also on the Centre console there are two clip covers near the bottom by the seat rails and they rattle
