Having had my car for 3 weeks now, I looked into Carista /OBD11 as I want to turn off the Soundaktor. I’m not a fan of loud exhausts especially fake ones.

After some digging, it appears that the 8.5 has additional security - abbreviated to SFD2 (Cybersecurity regs?) which the 3rd party dongles have not yet managed to gain access to.

Some diagnostic functions are available but adaptations are mostly not. Which is a shame as I also wanted to enable rear DRLs as my wife always turns the light switch form auto to off and drives around in the darkness with front lights and no rears. 🫣

Hello,

First time a member here albeit my 6th Golf - but my first GTI.

Picked it up on 9th June and absolutely loving it.

I’m recently retired and have lately had a string of nice comfortable estate cars but they’re in short supply nowadays and I’m and absolutely not having an SUV.

So the obvious replacement for a Volvo estate is a Golf GTI in Kings red metallic, Queenstown alloys and DCC because I need a tiny bit of comfort at my age.

Looking forward to getting to know the forum and its members, starting with searching how to turn off the fakery that is the Soundaktor…..

When I ordered mine last September, all updates until I received the car were via email at the different stages of the build process, up to and including the shipping.  They also provided an online portal with an overview of the car and the options I had chosen.

If you have the latest iteration of the system which includes park assist pro with the sensors on the very side of the bumpers, then it will be more sensitive than the slightly earlier models such as my 8.5 which didn’t have park assist pro as standard, on my 2020 BMW M135i it was equally as sensitive as you describe, but in that car it was possible to select to have the side sensors switched off so that it just used the four rear sensors for the auto braking, could there be a setting somewhere to do the same?? I find it over sensitive. You get a fright when it happens. You have to switch it of everytime you get in the car. I usually switch it off when I put the car in reverse as the settings option is on the screen when the camera appears.

Nope, it's basically going to brake if an object crosses the red line on the camera display.

I think one of the buttons on the park assist screen let's you cancel it though for each time you reverse

Mind you it could also be the cross traffic detection system. Not much you can do about that one, if it sees a vehicle and you are going backwards it will brake if you don't
