*UPDATE*My Turbo has died - Now Fixed
« on: 04 November 2008, 18:59 »
I was on the M58 going home, went to overtake a lorry & no woosh power.  plodded to the VW dealers & 30mins later I get a call to say the Turbo has failed.

I had no back smoke out the back & the MPG went up   Just SDI type power.

A few days before the turbo felt like it was on/off every so oftern?????

No idea why the turbo failed.  All I know is it's £1000.00 to replace   Good job I bought my GT TDI from a VW dealer & get a 12month warrantee

Phew!  only 51k on the car???

sounds like the pressure switch on the turbo m8!

happend to mine! turbo kept cutting out when acclerating, then would reset itself when you turn ignition off and then back on.

good news is its only about 40quid from v dub

Sadly S6GTI that was the repair quote under VW warrantee, so I don't think I will get to choose what turbo they fit

I got a phone call telling me that they have ordered an new Turbo & it's a 3hr job to swap.

The dealer I use are fast & good with fault finding, so I wonder if i'm getting the pressure switch aswell?  They were very sure the turbo had gone.

But hey if they want to put a new one on, then that's fine with me

By 'pressure switch' i assume he means the N75 boost solenoid, which would be one of the first things they checked and would throw up a fault code anyway. Like you say though, who cares when you get a shiny new turbo for free

Wow, I have the power back.  It feels so fast now, even more than when I got the car just over a month ago.  The Turbo is so aggressive kicking in now

Loving the new power

Was thinking of a remap when the warrantee has expired.  I know they did check to see if it was mapped, the hint was dropped.

I did test drive 8 GT TDI 130's & only two if them were quick, the others only had the power when my foot was nearly planted to the floor?

How odd?
