Title: Turbo Waste Gate Sticking

My 2.0 TSI GTI 5dr was registered on 19.09.2015. I have owned it since 30.09.2018. It was bought from VW Crewe with 28500 miles. It now has 45000 miles. On Aug 3 20 a new 9096 battery was installed. Since then the EPC light comes on intermittently. The catalytic converter engine outline image lights up intermittently. The ACC light is on intermittently and in the central screen messages such as ACC not available, stop/start not available appear intermittently. Very occasionally and briefly flashing red. The car continues to perform normally.
VW Shrewsbury have run a diagnostic check and found no ACC errors. They have checked the ACC unit under the front bumper and it is okay.
They have performed a test pan and have found turbo waste gate sticking due to excessive movement and recommend replacing it at a cost of £1518.
This seems a lot of money for a vehicle that is not regularly driven hard, and does not have excessive mileage.
Also as the car continues to perform okay, i wonder if this is the actual problem.
Does anyone have a similar experience and can share any thoughts or advice?

Take it somewhere else would be my advice!

Find a good independent - assuming you live somewhere near the dealer you mention, PSI Tuning or Awesome VW come to mind.

Who fitted the 9096 battery was it coded correctly?

When you fit a battery, you get all manner of codes come up that need to be cleared?

ACC disables if the EML light comes on, as will start stop.... its probably that causing both of those conditions.

The EML will also come on if it detects the emissions are out of shape too, which also is probably why you are seeing the catalyst light too.

I'm not expert, but I would get someone to look at the diagnostic log - because its probably quite apparent from that.

But it sounds very much like its some sort of either actual combustion problem or one of the (many) sensors that monitor the combustion cycle - the good old lambda one for example.

All the codes will clear themselves after a short drive after fitting/disconnecting the battery.
