Mk8 GTI vs Clubby OEM exhaust differences?
« on: 03 February 2023, 13:17 »
I know the clubby has slightly different shaped exhaust tips but are they any different in any other respect?

Is there anything to be gained by fitting a Clubby OEM exhaust to my GTI?

Other than different tips I wouldn't expect so tbh but if it performance you want you could get a racingline OEM + map they reckon that a Mk8 GTI will see close 2 350bhp with a map they see bigger increases than MK7.5s on stage 1.

I am very tempted to go go down this route myself
Mk6 GTI DSG
MK7.5 GTI performance DSG
Mk8 GTI

No, not for performance, just a bit more noise without anyone clocking that its not VW OEM.... which it probably would pass muster.

I wonder how much the parts cost though... suspect its a fair bit for just a bit of fun

you'd probably need to fit the Clubsport's lower valence too as it's shaped around the oval tips.
MK8 GTI Clubsport. Reflex silver, Estorils, and a few other bits.

Yes the video linked by MK8clubby showed that and how to do it

Shame there is no UK spec video-the OPF makes a big difference here.

I'm getting a Milltek sports spec system fitted on the 30th March and I'll see what it's like with the OPF in place.

If it doesn't cut the mustard, I'll go back for the Milltek downpipe with OPF delete.

I am 99% certain you will be going back for the OPF delete as to my ears the Milltek makes little difference. It's all personal taste but I would probably go with the Remus over the Milltek on the GTI. Only thing with the Remus is I am not keen how you can see some of the system hanging below the rear valance so I would probably feel the need for something like a maxton rear trim to hide it.

Dont get me wrong I like Milltek - I had one on my B9 S5 and it was epic - but they are quite hit and miss (new RS6 system sounds appalling)

It is always hard as listening to videos vs hearing it in person, but this sounds ok to me;

Whereas the Milltek I struggle to tell much of a diffrerence even in this enclosed space;

Definitely be interested to hear your thoughts once the Milltek is on, I could be completely wrong!

Thanks Simon,

In a change of plan, I'm going with the Scorpion OPF delete downpipe but it comes with either a high flow sports cat or full decat and I can't decide which to go for.
