decided to see if a mk3 handbrake would fit....and yet again VW's interchangeability does the trick.

undo this screw


unclip the switches ( soz this pic is reversed , they are on the left of the handle)


undo the two nuts


pull the lever from the floor and twist it out of here


you may have to drill the switch out and bolt it back on as it won't quite fit through the cover that goes over the mechanism with it on.


nasty skinny plastic thing V soft padded black leather  :cool:


fitting is reverse of removal

had a spare heater facia that had a blown bulb so pulled it to bits.

Got a mate to fit a new LED and I painted the grey plastic silver just to see what it looked like.

the paint is a bit (well, alot) rough but it was just a mess about really.

I'll stick it in tomorrow and see what it looks like.

just failed my mot but i'm happy enough.

i was expecting more tbh but just a worn ball joint and binding brake.

they're my jobs for tomorrow.

not much of an update really but I now have 12 months MOT.  :grin:

replaced the ball joint, fitted a new caliper and brake pads and throught it went.

relieved for another year.  :cool:

decided to sell it. no good reason , just boredom.  :grin:

stuck some P Slots on as i'm selling the BBS RA's seperatley ( see for sale section )

the rear lights are going back to standard too.



I always wanted a MK2 Golf GTI , now i've had one..... it's been fun .  :grin:

I might have another as a toy when i have the space.
