It's probably 80% car performance and 20% driver skill

1991 - Senna beat Mansell. Mansell had the superior car and the only thing that scuppered his campaign was reliability.
1992 - Mansell with the most technically advanced F1 car ever.
1993 - Prost with a development of 1992 Williams
1994 - Schumacher - Rule changes banning driver aids meant the cars were pretty much similar in performance and the most skillful driver won
1995 - Schumacher again
1996 - Hill, with the best car and Schumi in a crappola of a Ferrari
1997 - Villneuve only because Schumacher was still in a crappy Ferrari
1998 - Hakkinen, rule changes again meant that the Mclaren was the superior car
1999 - Hakkinen again with the best car, though Ferrari gave them a run for the money
2000 - 2004 Schumacher in the best car and best driver

So true, look at when Hammond tried to drive an F1 car.

However it's all relative isn't it? Even Nelson Piquet jr. is a more skillful a driver than any person on the street due to the many years of experience and training. However when compared to his peers who have had similar training then he is a bit pants.

I dont agree with the 80/20 split at all... yeah ok you could give a person a decent car like they have with button this year, but his ability to overtake the way he did in the last race was much more than 20% ... he was outstanding... another thing people seem to forget is the top 5 are normally pulling laptimes within 0.500s of each other.

Mk3 Golf Gti:Full Milltek system and Decat,K&N filter,mk2 Cam,-1.5 degree camber shims, borbet a's, toyo proxies, hot tuning coils, brembo vented discs, greenstuff pads...Soon to have Eaton Power

mk3 16v 5dr Gti,mintex extreme pads,drilled/grooved discs, lowered, cat back powerflow system, omp panel filter with modified airbox, debadged grill, started prep for spraying, lots to come :D

Bumper Vents :D
