Air Intake probs with a mk2 shell but mk3 2.0 16v
« on: 22 April 2003, 13:23 »
i own a mk2 that has a mk3 2.0 16v engine in it which is fun. But the problem is that when at the crucial point of a race it starts to act more like a kangaroo than a hot hatch. The engine seems to cut out all together then go again as if i was running out of petrol making me look like a jibber jabber or a noddy dog if y dont know what a jibber jabber is. Im no mechanic but when i look under the bonnet i can see something suspicious. where the rubber air intake hose connects to the intake manifold it is squashed against the top of the strut making it oval and not round. The hose may be collapsing in on itself choking the engine of air, well thats my guess. If im going in the total wrong direction then please advise. None the less i would like to replace the air intake hose and induction kit with something better. Was thinking of a power rohr pipe and bit of 90 degree hose with a decent induction filter on the end. Any ideas anyone? i can be the only one out there with this conversion problem.
