1.8t boost pressure
« on: 24 September 2011, 18:02 »
I've just today bought a boost gauge for my 1.8t (agu) to see what boost it's running as it's apparently been mapped, so was wondering what bar boost it should be running if it has been mapped or what it would be if it hasn't, it's a standard car no induction kit etc. Any info would be great

Hello,

Depending on who mapped it and in what manner they mapped it you will see around 14.5psi / 1bar of boost from a good spec1 remap,  I strong spec1 remap will see around 18/19psi /1.3bar peak boost which will tail to around 14.5psi.

Hi thanks for that, I'm not sure who mapped it as I have no proof, I'm not that convinced that it has been as it doesn't feel any quicker than a standard one to me and I assume it should!

Right I finally connected up the boost gauge and on full throttle is making just under 0.5 bar boost so I assume it hasn't been mapped? Is this about right though for a standard 1.8t?

0.5 bar = just above 7psi

Standard boost 7-8 psi..............its not mapped or you are in limp mode!

Any codes/fluctuation in boost at first?

Oh, and you are in 3rd/4th when you do a WOT run aren't you?
