1982 Mk1 Golf GTI - 'Franken'Golf
« on: 29 April 2023, 09:58 »
I've recently purchased a 1982 Mk1 GTI which was part built with an AGU 1.8T engine fitted. The engine was running badly (lumpy idle, wouldn't rev, backfiring, etc.) which needed sorting. The engine loom looks like it was thrown in with large part of it either damaged or left unconnected. The sump was cracked when the seller was moving the car out his unit onto the transporter.

It also came with 3 boxes of bolts and parts in the boot. With no labels. At this stage, I should also state that i've never owned a mk1 Golf so putting this back together is going to a be a journey.

There are few things that I need help on identifying/confirming:

1) Fuse box - From the pics I've seen, this looks more like a mk2 golf CE1 fuse box rather than a mk1 version?

2) Door seals - Which way around do they go and what do people use to bond them in?

Position 1:

Position 2:

3) Seats - I've taken the seats out as they are wobbly af and confirmed they dont have the clips on the seat legs nor the front near the adjuster. However, the slot where the rubber mount is supposed to sit, is none existent?
