turns out the car needs a new intake manifold. I was quoted £672 by the dealers, so it's going to a VAG specialist in Oldham this wednesday and is covered by the RAC warranty. so hopefully that should see the end of the issue.

I've also had a crack at restoring the headlights, as they were showing signs of light hazing and had some stone chip indents. I used a machine polisher and some Meguiars Plast-RX to take the headlights from this:

I've also been on the hunt for an OEM dead pedal. turns out VW only make a dead pedal cover for LHD's only! so I had to make do with an aftermarket version from eBay.

I found this which I thought looked the part:




Didn't want to a cover that had the 'GTi' logo on, I wanted to keep it as OEM looking as possible. I think it does the trick.

I've also got some H&R SuperSport springs on order from the US, which I believe will be with me any day now. They will be fitted pretty much straight away to give them time to settle in before it's stanced.

I have a ramp booked on 4th March to have them fitted, just in time for Ultimate Dubs on the 10th.

so finally had the H&R SuperSport springs fitted and I'm absolutely made up with how the car is sitting. Really didn't expect to get such a perfect drop from them, I thought they would be sitting slightly higher.

picked it up and took it for a rinse after this crazy snow we've had. got home and took a few quick pics of it on the drive. really didn't want to stay out long as it's absolutely freezing!











you get the idea.

really happy with them, couldn't have asked for a better drop if it were on coilovers! as far as I'm aware I think this could be the only mk6 GTi in the country running SuperSport springs.

also had some pressed plates made up while I was at Ultimate Dubs the other week, which you can sort of see in the pics.

no major updates since the springs went on. just saving funds for new parts and detailing gear.

I gave the car a rinse the other day and headed over to an open day/photoshoot at Modified North West. Here's a couple of pics from their FB page...
