On the contrary, it's not a racist term, but is in fact the term by which certain groups of Irish Traveller wish to be referred by.  I was enlightened by such groups during a number of court hearings and a traveller seminar.

Years back affectionately referred to as tinkers, on the whole genuine nomads. Recent times however, well I've also seen the effects the so called travellers have on the community and  environment.

Way to off topic for this forum and no way racist, one has to be boringly so PC these days.

Anyway they have SUVs and luxury mobiles to haul around, not horses and carts, and definitely not a Golf GTI.
