Wonder if the performance gauge screen can be added to earlier MY16 (MIB II) cars or not ?

I would guess it can.

Assuming its all part of the software of the MIB, then flashing it to the newest version should enable it.

Definitely worth a try.

I can't see that its relying on any new sensor hardware, the data is already available, the unit just needs to read it over the bus.

My thoughts too.

If all that think blue junk is in there and accessible via the bus then so will the other vehicle data.
Being as its been available in the land of the curious presidential candidates for a while it's all hidden in the electrics waiting to be tapped into via software updates or VCDS geniuses poking around in the right places.

Have to translate but looks like the digital display will be an option on performance golfs also - no mention of engines for the R

http://www.autobild.de/artikel/vw-golf-vii-facelift-2016-vorschau-5519781.html

Are they really going to do a facelift?

Damm, guess my Golf R will be pre-face lift :(

They also say this about the Golf R420
"As study VW has the hot Golf R400 already presented. After the facelift it comes as R420 in a small series on the market. Compared to the study, the power was increased by 20 to 420 hp - a reaction to the revised Mercedes A 45 AMG, which now develops 381 hp."

Grrrrr I didn't think Volkswagen were building the R420???

I would imagine so, means we lose the lockable glove box but gain the GUI boost gauge.
Doesn't look like MY17 cars are having any big changes :)
