Metallic engine on idle
« on: 10 January 2014, 21:59 »
Stood outside this morning with a cup of tea while the car was defrosting itself and noticed a rhythmic metallic sound that didn't sound right to me. Any one else, or should I be concerned?

Based on that description any issues are going to be quite difficult to diagnose.

Was the noise related to engine speed? Where exactly, was the noise coming from? Any warning lights? Have you checked fluid levels?

In this situation, if you have a genuine concern about the car I would get it to a dealer or other mechanic as soon as possible...

The sound is from the engine on start up tick over. No warning lights. It comes and goes irregularly but it's regular when it's there...weird.
