Thanks sharki.

Dave I know what your saying the reason i did it was to add a bit of colour to the car, different from the whole black and sliver.  If the car had been a different colour I'd held on to the sliver ones for sure.  Also wanted it to stand out more to be truthful..lol

Daz you for real? never knew images from the likes of this build thread came up on google.  That mk2 is just a shell now getting new under seal..lol

Fitted a black grill today think it looks better than the sliver one as i started to hate the black VW bag badge.

Car is looking ace. small observation though, aren't you looking at an MOT failure with no side repeaters?
Title: Re: Sliver MK4 *full screens fitted*
Post by: SI74 on 22 June 2011, 18:03
The repeaters are in the bumper and still on the side of the car..   Over here in N.Ireland we have MOT centres and my boss in the fire service works in one, he had a look and said they would just about pass. (think you have to stand one step to the side of the rear light and see them flash) Car pssed in Jan with them on.

I really want us front and rear bumpers, with the anni kit fitted (which ive got)

Its 100%, We used a part from another bumper to get the shape then just plastic welded the sids.

Drop me a line sure if you want to know better what way we done it and what was used when you get the bumper. I had to wait two months on it but with any luck VW should have them in stock as the brought three in with mines.

Update time, this lot came the other day from ORT in the US, The build quality is unreal definitely money well spent. Will be moving the car into the garage this w'end and the strip down re-build will start.  Going to be hard lining it and fittin a different interior but it'll all have to be custom fitted so will be doing more update than I have been..

How will you be able to get the spare wheel out?

I'm curious to know how different the S3 control arms are to Golf3 ones, dimensionally - has possibilities for wide-track G2 and 3s with very precise handling.

Working on an idea at at the min, the one i'll be using is from a 4Mo its the slim 18 one so don't need a lot of clearance to get I out  but might no bother with it. Going to use one of the ports on the tank as an air line. Will have a look where there back from paintng.

Few more bit I picked up last week. I was never happy with the way the R32 skirts look with the Anni stuff so jumped at theses genuine ones when I saw how good they where.

Some R32 drop links

And got the bumper bar painted

I also got a few words out of Eddy at Bagyard so looks like a year later they'll be coming through on the order

Got a few more things done yesterday, my mate Barry called over and we got the wooden template for the rear brace made up will also be using it to hold up the back part of the rear seats.

Started to make the back piece of the sub enclosure, never done anything like this before, But knew it can be messy stuff so we decided to make first bit out of the car. Barry got the cardboard template made up and we set about getting the glass fibre strips on before the resin went off. Was really surprised to how little time you have before it goes.

Nope because there the 18z ones, stay away from the 17z ones they have the bigger pistons and you'd end up in a load of bother.

Been working on the car most of the last two weeks and got a good bit done still a long way off but im in no rush and not going to put myself out.

started to clean up the rear arches didnt think they where that bad till I got in there with the wheel.

Did them with Qrust and have since gave them a lick of zinc primer.

Just leave me to seal the seams again then I'm going to wax the whole inner arch. I also removed the tank and made a start at any rust spots under the car its not that bad just a wee bit round the rear exhaust bracket. While the tank was out i gave it a light clean up.

Thanks mate, it changed since that pic. I got hold of some scirocco rear door cards so think I'll be able to do more of a hybrid door card and leave out the foam. There about 6inch too short each side. Had to make up a few brackets aswell.
