My Mk2 GTI only comes out when the stars are perfectly aligned in the summer. Many people say it's pointless having a car and not using it. However, if you forget that it's a car and think of it as a nice object to own, does it matter?
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I'd love to be in the position to have a garage queen as an option! Mine is still bogging, managed to give it 10 minutes at a jet wash a few weeks ago which removed a few layers of grime, hopefully the weather, work and my energy levels will all align soon for a decent wash.

Well not exactly today but earlier this week ………..got it out of the garage and took it up the road for the first time since ceramic coating it last October 👍. Safely tucked away again now

That does look great

I disagree entirely but each to their own. Cars are made to be driven. It’s a gti not a Lamborghini ! I keep my cars immaculate but they are made to be driven.

I agree that cars are made to be driven so that’s what I do with mine - when I need to use it I do, come rain or shine . Like yours, it’s well cared for and looks virtually as good as it did the day I took delivery of it.

In some ways, a garage queen would be nice but I have neither the spare funds nor the space for one.

Never a waste keeping something nice! No point driving something nice in winter when there's reduced grip and it looks a shadow of itself after 5 mins of grime and dirt. Keep it for summer and enjoy it when it's dry and you can actually use the power!

In Ashton's post he said he was driving it and I advocate the same, but what's the point in winter? It's just numbing A-B driving, poor condition roads, covered in salt and muck.

There's a difference between keeping something nice and not using it at all.

Sorry but what a waste of such a beautiful car. I hate garage queens

I’m on car about number 140 since I started driving quite a lot of years ago so I’ve done plenty of driving .I now  find I get as much pleasure just owning the car and faffing with it as I do driving now. I don’t mind a spin out in it but I get an equal amount if enjoyment in the detailing of it and keeping it nice. I’ve got a few cars and bikes but do very few miles in/on any of them. My enthusiasm for rattling around the countryside isn’t what it used to be but I do enjoy the ownership of a nice vehicle.
I'm the same. Maybe its an age thing, my views on this have changed completely over the years.
5 cars and I don't do much mileage. Now I'm working from home I do even less.

Got the Racechip XLR pedal box in the post today.
Only had a quick blast locally but what a difference it makes! I've already had my GTD remapped but this gets rid of the dead travel in the pedal and it feels like a whole new beast now!
20 minute install and so worth it! Wish i listen to the forum members who recommended it earlier
