Just serviced a friends 2016 Golf R rear haldex/pump.

This is what it looked like after only 24975 miles.

After i had cleaned the pump. Loads better.

Yesterday, clock went over 20k miles.

Today, it went in for it's third service, brake fluid change, diff oil change and an MoT. All good. They also looked at my rattly rear door cards and have ordered a full set of clips for them. Hopefully that'll make the interior a bit quieter.

I'll get it booked in again soon for a sunroof service and get the aircon checked.

Reckon a smart repair would sort it sjw? Gutting when stuff like that happens.

Ceefeesh, the steering wheel looks superb.
I always thought the ‘wheel was a bit too thin on the mk7’s so that’s another plus point of the Royal item

Maybe, I have no idea. I have another scrape of similar sort on the front of the car, which was my own doing - whoopsie! Wheels need a refurb as well. Such a pain!

I had mine done at 3 years / 13k for that very reason.

Have to say when I heard about this as a possible cause of front rattles I just bought some automotive foam/felt tape and applied it to the touch points on the back of the panel, seems to have worked and I have nothing showing on the outside of the panel.

Finally got round to changing my VAQ diff oil this morning as i was unsure if it got done before i took ownership.

After buying VCDS, and sourcing a laptop along with the necessary oil i cracked on.

The oil looked quite clean compared to the R i did the other day, and when i pulled the pump out there was nothing evident on the screen filter or in the aperture where the pump fits.

It was either done at 30k/3years or the VAQ front diff doesnt work as hard as the R rear diff and runs cleaner.

That clean i didnt even take a pic!! Anyway ive enough oil leftover to do it again next year to bring it back in line with the recommended every 3 years interval.

@madstaff, that’s interesting, thanks for posting- particularly as it vindicates my decision to defer my vaq service to next year- as mine has only 22k on the clock

Had mine back at the dealer today to replace all the rear door card clips to hopefully reduce rattling. So far, seems good but it'll take a few drives over different surfaces (and with the sunroof closed, it was lovely out today) to be sure.
