Title: Rolling Road Day
Post by: gstar-dubworld on 11 September 2005, 23:46
Dear All,

This is just a check to see how many would be interested, should we wish to hold a rolling road day towards the end of October for the club, venue will be Silvertsone Northants.

Minimum amount of cars would be 10 with a maximum of 30, more we can get interested the cheaper the cost per car, initially we are looking at 30-35 notes per car, this includes two power runs on the day.

Not discussing any dates at current just a show of hands.

After the session everyone is more then welcome to come back to the workshop again in Silverstone for an open viewing, or there's an excellent pub/diner in the village too.

I might be interested depending on when and cash. Just a thought, do they give the car a tune after the 1st run if it's deemed necessary before doing the second run ?  :undecided:

Do you have the one from your mk4 when you were beaten by my (whisper it) diesel??!!
Title: Re: Rolling Road Day
Post by: topher on 15 September 2005, 16:07
no.. i replaced the cracked vacuum hose that was causing the power drop, then the graph flew out of the window as the 200+bhp monster cruised past a rattly PD150 and got lost in the trail of smog coming from it forever

Title: Re: Rolling Road Day
Post by: Mr V Wagon on 18 September 2005, 21:57
If it's near the end of October, i'd of had enough time to fit my 308 cam and give it a little tune

Count me in lads. Name a date and i'll make sure i've done what needs to be done to my 2.0 beast.

It may be worth taking deposits so you're guarenteed there won't be a poor turn out?

If there isn't enough interest(or you want more), let me know if you want it advertised on other forums as i'm a member of PVW, E1k, Londubs, MK1 Owners, CGTI and a couple of others.

I'll bring down the s3 if they can handle the haldex 4wd,
Title: Re: Rolling Road Day
Post by: gstar-dubworld on 23 September 2005, 00:34
Looks like the end October seems to be the flavour, we will avoid the 22nd as well.

It's a 4WD dyno.

I will put some dates together and see what is favourable to all.

Gibby, it'll be two straight power runs without further diagnostics and tuning, but depending on the turnout we may be able to do something here.

We will look to Golf+ to provide the coverage on the day.

Okay then watch this space..

Post by: gibby on 23 September 2005, 10:19
Tesh, I can't do the last weekend in October, but don't worry about me if that's the best date for everyone else as I don't think I'll be winning any trophies in a hairdressers car !

If its not raining then I'll bring the Ferrari, but judging how much trouble Fasier had trying to get his valver on the rollers at the AMD day, I doubt I'll get the low riding fat boy on the rollers

If I can get it on the rollers then I'll definitely run it, so bring the ear defenders and the Kleenex gents...

Thought it was a VW rolling rd event, but if we're cracking the weekend cars out, maybee i shud open the old garage up, and release the beast......hope yev got more than 450bhp....

I will deffo come, but I doubt I will stick it on the rollers, as you're right, it is a Vee Dub event, so if we're limited on spaces I'll let those with a VAG car go on....its more fun watching when you see all the little groups seeing who has the most power etc. Good fun even as a spectator....

If there IS space however, let me in!!

I'll go for the trophy for most power per litre.
On a serious note, can you ask wrc whether they can run a car with haldex as some places have a problem.

I'm WELL up for this boys, i really need to know what bhp/ft lbs it's kicking out. I've had too many people telling me i've built the wrong engine! "It doesn't have enough valves!"

I was up against a 2.0 8v, at pod, we were neck and neck up until about 3k in 3rd gear then i started to pull away. Quick little motors though accl wise.  Providing i can get mine running again in that time i will bring it, other than that it might end up being an old oil burner.
Title: Re: Rolling Road Day

If we're short on numbers, i don't mind paying a little extra to have 3-4 goes? Ideally i'd like to get a read out with my vernier at TDC then at +1 then -1. If i get another go the i'll adjust it to 2 degrees in whichever way it responds better

But if i can't - then 2 goes are enough!

I was well chuffed with my 14.6 - now i need to know how my engine done it!

Folks,

This is pretty much boxed off now, as mentioned the date is now set for the 26th November.

JV will start another seperate thread for this now to get the numbers re-quantified, deposites will be taken in order to make the attendance water tight.

Okay looking forward to seeing most of you again, we will look to put some links up for directions etc.

In the mean time here is a link for the actual dyno place.
