Starting to get a slight bubbling on the front drivers wing. Everywhere else looks solid though. Does the 10 year guarantee last for 2nd owners??
The next thing is along with this, I had the rear passenger spring go last year and tonight the front drivers whilst collecting the kids. I hit a pothole about 2mins before hand too so pretty sure that bollicksd it TBH. Anyone else had snapping springs?

It's a 12 year warranty on corrosion I've had a couple of mk5s and Audis repaired over the years best get it checked right away but if it's ever had paintwork on any of the rusty panels they use this as there get out clause

The corrosion warranty definitely applies to subsequent owners. Like the previous poster said, so long as there has not been a previous repair it should be covered. Just pop to your local Volkswagen dealer and let them take a look. They should be able to tell you there and then. Might also be worth checking the door sills for rust because these can also go. See http://www.stuartdalby.co.uk/vwgolfmk5/rust_wing
Broken coil springs are a fact of life. Speed bumps (even if you don't go fast over them) can cause these to snap over time. An independent garage should be able to replace a pair for less than £150. A VW dealer for much more as I once learnt to my cost. See http://www.stuartdalby.co.uk/vwgolfmk5/vwgolfmk5_wearandtear.php#coilsprings
Hope that helps,
Stuart

Cheers for that guys. Yeah the springs are part of life but shouldn't be given how much we pay but hey ho. The rear springs and shocks were done last year and they were quoted as £1,190 by the dealers!! Needless to say I went elsewhere. I'll look into the wings.
