I cant believe those figures are correct. Why would anyone buy a GTI ?

I agree. The Diesel surely would be more like 200-210 bhp and the Petrol 220-230 bhp.

I share the mild irritation that VW is releasing the Mk 7 so soon after the Mk 6. IThe Mk 6 was always intended to push back the launch of the Mk 7, but in reality it looks like nothing has changed.

In terms of engine specifications, I believe that the engine sizes are correct, but the outputs are unconfirmed. I would imagine that the GTI will get 235-245 bhp, not 220 bhp. The next Ford Focus ST, RS models are bound to get healthy upgrades. VW will have to do likewise.

A Mk 7 R with 300 bhp sounds very nice. BTW, Someone has managed to re-chip an Audi TT-RS with the -cylinder TFSI and get 400+ bhp.
Golf R - almost on order - 5-door, DSG, Rising Blue, leather, 19" alloys, RNS510 with Dynaudio, ACC, Sunroof, Parking camera and sensors, luxury pack and cruise control.
