They are great standard but a bit safe with understeer.

Modify the suspension setup and change the geometry and they eat porsches for breakfast

Little update

Better view of wheel and stitching
.

Going to run bbs rc 042's all round. Picked another set up on the weekend just need to polish them.

.

im really liking the M3R setup so I might machine two centres so I can reverse mount them. Im not sure yet as im not sure if there is enough material to work with

.

Then a little refurb on the calipers.
First need to get pistons out so put a wheel valve in the calipers.  Took the inner one way valve out though.

.

Then 3 pads in to get one side to pop
.

one popped out then the other needed 80psi!!
.

then two pads a spanner to get the other side to pop out. Then just pull them out. I removed all seals too.

I tried to remove the old paint with nitromores and wirewool but no joy! So I cleaned them up and painted over.
Im happy enough with the results. Not perfect but they are brakes

Ive gone for the z3 2.7 quick rack. Also got new lemforder track rods to put on.

I some how forgot sump gasket.  So got a febi to replace when I do the rod bolts.

Couple weeks ago I ordered a UUC double sheer selector rod so hopefully be here this week. I also got some *garagistic delrin carrier bushings, so hopefully they will take all play out the gear stick

im leaving a bit of carbon showing on the csl boot lid and im thinking I need a carbon splitter up front to even it out.

not orderd yet as this is American. Im going to see whats available before I commit to getting one.

Hopefully this weekend weather will be nice and ill get to work on it.

Yesterday I took off exhaust and heat shield to get to the prop to change coupling
heres the old cracked one as I expected.
Untitled by tweedub, on Flickr

Ive left the prop down for when my UUC DSSR turns up so I can do the quickshift.

Also changed the gearbox mounts for these AKG mounts
Untitled by tweedub, on Flickr

I wasn't sure to use these or not but after seeing a review on youtube with a guy and his z4m with them im convinced I will love them. He says you get a vibration at idle but soon as you're over 1500rpm its smooth. He has the AKG engine mounts too but ive gone for the competition vibra technics engine mounts.  Should be fine :)

Would of done more today but weather is good and spending time with the missus.  (Not out of choice)

One cracked subframe! This has to be the cause of my jerking when rolling at idle

So I quickly bought one from ebay with fresh powdercoating.  Guess what? Its cracked! Seller has posted another straight out and says no cracks but not powdercoated.  Should be here friday.
You can see the crack on the driver side mount.

My mate has took my old subframe to make reinforcement templates so that he can bring a tig plant home and weld them in on weekend.

Then finally my UUC DSSR (double sheer selector rod) came out of custom
Untitled by tweedub, on Flickr

total cost of that was about £130 including custom charge. Do I think its worth it? Hell yeahhhh

Here it is fitted
Untitled by tweedub, on Flickr

My shifter is the ebay 6 speed quick shift. I fitted the Delrin carrier shifter bushings and then the uuc dssr. With all that and the gearbox mounts, its very tight and notchy.  Its epic!
I then put on the new doughnut bush and put the prop back on.

Then I stripped the bottom end to inspect the original shells and chance them for the ACL shells and arp rod bolts.
To be honest I did not need to change them. But I had the acl' so put them in.

I know these look like they are in cylinder order but they are placed randomly and that is just the flash and angles

In with the new :)

Also picked up my carbon splitter also with custom charge lol

Nest up will be reinforcing the subframe and welding the pump nut. Im waiting on balljoints so might fit my bbk on weekend too.

What were the old shells like?
Also I take it the sub frame is a well known weakness, what is it that causes it to crack I cant quite see where the load is coming from.
Do you plan to weld a bit on both sides or just one?
Looking good

Old ones where really good to be honest.  They are not the problem though its the standard bolts. They stretch and then you get worn out shells. I just changed them because it was apart.
Yrs its a well known issue! It comes from the engine just twisting and torquing.  Its mainly driver side and the e36 engine is angled so maybe that side takes more load? Once the driver side goes then the passenger side goes. Also fcuked engine mounts can cause this.

Due to the angle of the mounts you cant go on top! The holes wont line up. We are putting 3mm stainless on the bottom and then making a gusset.  You will see in due time
