...can't be arsed with this car sh1t anymore?
-
Not as interested as i was with the mk3 (was always looking for bits for it lol),but not sure if it's that i just enjoy driving the 4mo more,oh and paying off a holiday is putting a stop to anything else
Any particular reason for you ?
-
Have never lost interest and never will.
It is an effort to get things done these days but I will achieve!
-
Haven't managed many shows for a while due to having a family now but I'll get back into it eventually.
Maintaining 4 vehicles does seem to be more of a chore these days, I've considered letting the mk2 go several times now but then I drive it again and those thoughts are quickly banished.
I only pop onto the forums very occasionally these days as I simply don't have the time.
-
I can't be bothered anymore tbh. Not going any shows. Ain't done anything to the mk3 for ages even gunna put standard suspension back onit! My new interest is bikes!!
-

A lack of love for the VW thang...
-
Got a company car a few months back, and although i'm happy to keep the golf as a run around car, I cant see me putting any more money into it, mod wise.
-
yes and no.
I enjoy working on it (At times, i.e. when its hot and something doesent go wrong) and enjoy driving it.
but at the same time, id rather spend my money on other stuff... snowboarding... mountain biking... holidays etc etc etc.
have a feeling ill keep the golf another year then be looking to sell, either get myself a boring diesel, have it maped so it has a bit of poke and then buy a weekend car such as Porsche, caterham etc.
also been toying with the idea of a track toy, was some mx5's at croft the other week, and although they were slow compared to the caterhams that were flying around in other races, the mx5s looked more fun so also been looking at mx5s and what options there are with regards to tracking them out, also been keeping my eyes on a few formula fords and stuff like that...
will have to see what happens. but I know how you feel, isn't the first time iv felt like this... but sure the vw bug will return...
-
MEEEEE soo p1ssed off with because of other w4nkers. Yesterday a little girl threw a rock at the car and her mom says "i swear down theres no mark on the car" so my wife gets out and has a look and says was that there. I habe a look and there lkke 4 deep dots where the paint has chipped off. What could i say to the kid, the mother turned around and didnt even look at me. I was fuming inside and p1ssed of and just drove off. What can you do? Give me 500 squids as i need to respray tye whole car?
But then sometimes car puts a smile on my face. But as soon as iv cleaned it i find a new scratch or pin dent somewere.
-
Never.....i find it very therapeutic working on my old golfs. Its my main hobby and always will be till the day I die.
-
I just don't have the money. Keeping the car on the road and working perfectly mechanically costs me enough.
-
I love working on cars but slowly dying as I can't seem to switch from work to hobby.
Like my Golf is crying to me to get the VR6 in it but everytime weekend comes and I go for it I wonder why I'm not finishing jobs so end up just working extra days. :undecided:

this is why I've never wanted to do anything I enjoy a lot/ think of as a hobby for a job. Incase I wake up one day and realise I hate it.

this is why i just watch my mate do all my work

The feeling of completing something and being able to sit and back and say, 'I done that' is right up there. Never gets boring. You got to graft though, and waste money but for me its all worth it.
-
i get great satisfaction from fixing a problem with my golf..........................
By paying someone else to do it while i play snooker
-
Agree with it being a chore when its job related. I'm an Engineering Tech, and handy with wiring etc, but I get a serious lack of enthusiasm when I have to do anything like this to the car! A few family and friends have asked why I don't go into it full time as I enjoy it so much, and that's the exact reason I tell them I wouldn't want to. I'd loose the enjoyment out of it if it was a job before very long.
I also get bored quite quickly with cars, and don't stick to one for very long tbh - Longest I've owned a car is 14 Months. I've got a hankering for another Saab atm though!. :lipsrsealed:
Think the Corrado may well remain for a while though.
-
people have cars on this forum

Since taking up MTB'ing.....yes sadly

...can't be arsed with this car sh1t anymore?
We all run out of steam somewhere along the line, and took me 10 years to get back into it again! last summer was a complete non starter, poor weather etc and being overworked meant that I was coming home with no enthusiasm, then a long winded start to this year with the weather again has meant that my Mk2 is still sitting dormant in my garage
However, a nice bit of 911 action could see things start to get interesting again :lipsrsealed:

Yes, and No!

Got a MK2 sat at parents waiting attention... guaranteed job when I finish uni says this time next year, the GF aint gonna be happy
-
After last winter and the damage it did to my golf i just thought..sod it..i'm going to buy another discovery....i'm hanging in there just about but seriously thinking about parking the golf up and getting another disco.
-
Funny how Globals seem to become disenchanted!
Global burnout?
-
Still bitter about not being a mod of any kind Leonard!?
-
I blame the weather.
That and losing interest in the more painfully scene end of our hobby.
Then again, I just bought another Golf and am currently wasting time on ebay buying more sh!te for it.
-
Yep. My gti is now locked away in a garage. Hopefully selling my vr6 this sunday.
Racing has taken over from the cars but I wont race for ever so thats why im keeping my gti.
Ive got a standard audi a4 avant sport as my daily now.
-
Still happy just have long breaks from the car scene and then come back getting promised parts then getting let down kinda pisses you off enough to dishearten any dubber though.
-
Nope.
If you get bored with it - switch it up. I've switched from off-road stuff to track days then added the off-road stuff back in.
Can easily see how people get bored with it if they just lower a car and then stand back and go 'wow - I've lowered my car, that looks cool'.

This is pretty much what i did but i'm not bored with it, just becoming a bit fed up with all the things that old age/bad roads/crap weather are doing to it but i've formulated a plan in my head today to start pulling it back around and get everything back in the black before next winter.
-
Not bored with the Golf
Bored with forums tho... Bit of a waste of life..

Spotted, 1 Rallye being driven round Leicester, like the California Ferrari in Ferris Buellers day off!
I really do blame the weather... and Satty

LOL^
I was bored of the vw world due to the amount of knob heads at the shows. Can't remember attending much last year. The big names are over rated and it's turned into a fashion show for poofters.
Shows are not exactly inviting with these idiots and constant loud music but we've always had a laugh!
Lewy - You are not selling the mk2. You are a made man and need our approval. I can tell you that we won't allow this.
Air has made your life easy. Maybe it's because you have finished it?

You will buy another car and mod it within a month. Every car guy likes to tinker- FACT.
*kisses teeth*
-
just get it sold and buy yourself a van and have done
-
Couldn't give a toss about the whole 'scene'.
That said I do want a mk2 to tinker with in my spare time, but I doubt it'd ever attend a show in it. As said its just a fashion show. So many people with £5k to spend on air and wheels who are "killing it".
-
Mr Blue.....
........I hate you
-
Ive not lost the VW love but have become disenchanted with the scene
Final straw being some knob at a show telling me my G60 wasnt a G as "its not even got the bodykit maaaaaate"
Im looking for a VW here but to be honest i couldnt do f**k all to it with the roads up to my villa!

Lol I am obsessed. Just fitted my lightened flywheel and now hungry for more.
-
i go through stages, like when i bought the g60, loved it at first but some nob end had slammed it on its arse and ruined the wheelarches and the tyres.
ive recently joined a few more forums but i use them in moderation, and ive never gone in for the whole scene thing.
maybe youve done enough to the mk2 now and you need some fresh inspiration?
-
I've never been into the show scene, but I do get bored with cars sometimes. And I also get bored with the same boring stuff on t'internet, it goes in phases and I don't have a lot of time to waste looking at yet another modded Mk4 (no offense ).
Between work and family I don't get much time these days and what I do have is taken up with my photography.
That said, I have an odd hankering for a T25 camper....
-
When my neighbours say " get a new car" I think about it and then realise I would be very bored without my mk2. As already mentioned in this thread its the feeling of satisfaction to stand back and say "I did that"
As for the scene thing, slammed undriveable sump scraping air riding rusty crap with a grands worth of wheels on it does fkall for me.

Wow wow wow sweet child o' mine!
Ain't no rust on my car, more like the driver!
-
I wasn't aiming that at anyone on here. Just can't really see the point in making a car undriveable and then moan about the roads because its the "scene" thing.
My cars got rust, but I didn't make it happen with some sandpaper.

I hate the scene and can't be arsed with shows
quite happy pissing around makeing motorised things go faster with mates up the workshop, no just vw but anything withj a motr as long as it's not french ( exceptions made for really fast things and R5GTT tho )

The love has returned, but
The Plymouth I share with at the unit is really obnoxious and REALLY REALLY good at spinning the back end up.
And it's really big.
And I really want one.
