Sh*t happens.

It's only tin and rubber and as you've rightly said - great that no one else was involved and you're fine.

Chalk it up as experience and turn the speed down in cold weather like this!

Possibly up Salisbury Plain way, if this weather's set for the next couple of months it might pay to pick up a set of winter tyres.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

You guys never seen a Mk3 without its grille? Instantly recognisable to me!

Probably classed as a right off I would guess, but as long as the chassis is straight then its repairable.

What a total and utter f**king sh!tter. Especially as you've just got it back on the road, I've done this myself and it's heartbreaking. Really pleased that no one was hurt and I echo DH's sentiments, a car is just tin and rubber and can be replaced, but it's not so easy to fix us humans.

Keep your chin up fella.

You guys never seen a Mk3 without its grille? Instantly recognisable to me!

It was instantly recogniseable to me, although it looked funny because the engine seemed to still be in it and it wasn't on a trailer behind my Passat, on the way to the scrapyard.

thanks for all the messages guys  i've thought about it and i'm now not so annoyed about the car as you can't change the past and 'what ifs' are pointless. a bit of life experience yes... i think it's the shock that got me the most, haven't ever crashed before!

had a look today (was a bit dark for photos) and the engine is now slanted. i can rock it back and forth and there's a piece that's snapped at the bottom back right under the coolant bubble, i think it's the subframe or where the engine mounts or something, i'm guessing this means writeoff?
