sh!t-shaped utility motoring
« on: 07 December 2011, 18:15 »
TBH I can't be bothered.  The Passat is more interesting and that doesn't have a project thread.

I have bought a 'utility motoring' item which will be used for commuting, one way or another (and both in any given situation).

1Z TDI motor.  CL spec.  Cheap.  167k.  2 owners. T&T until Aug 2012.

It was advertised as a TD.

I have put some sh*t 15" alloys on it with Toyos on them, as I had them lying around.

I will be replacing the O/S front wheel bearing tomorrow, as it doesn't sound nice.

The POS stereo will probably be replaced for one I have lying around.

It will have the tits driven off it and then I might put the engine in a Transporter.

If the front brakes wilt they will be uprated.

It is surprisingly rot-free, but then it doesn't have sill covers.

If anyone has any links to tune the 1Z, please post them up.

Abuse goes below.

If it's very cheap and reliable, maybe.

No, that's still the case, but for the money it was either this, or something else awful and unlikely to be as good MPG-wise.
