update

Don't be silly I bet he blames his missus!
True that.... amongst other things, although believe it or not I managed to spend some time on it today.  Now I wish I hadn't bothered and I'm really f*cked off..

On phone at the moment so will post an "update " later.

MK1 Black From The Dead - 10 Minute Job!? Feck Off! - Pics (p148)

So... I wanted to get my exhaust fixed properly once and for all.  I thought I would do the right thing and remove the entire system minus the four branch, clean it up, high temp paint it and reseal all joints upon reassembly. Then, cut out the bad bit (joint to the manifold) and put a flexible section in.

System is a steel Supersprint in very good condition considering it's almost the same age as the car!...  I should have thought about it's age before I tried to split it though!

First bit was easy, get it's ar5e up and remove my bodge on the end of the down pipe.

All I needed to do was get the silencer off to release the rest of the system.

Got the clamp off pretty easy but the silencer obviously didn't want to budge.

Gave it some mild persuasion followed by lots of heat, followed by bending back the female end, followed by beating the sh1t out of it, followed by giving up playing nice and cutting it off. At this point my grinder told me to go feck myself and went pop which after 3 hours of sh*t was enough for me to walk away from the car,

It's also pants not being able to get the car high enough so that I don't end up battering myself in the process!

Was tempted to re-tax it for a couple of months while I do other bits but not at this rate.

Always a pain working on exhausts without it being on a ramp!

Sadly, even if it was properly up in the air I wouldn't have got the silencer off, but it would have at least been a lot less painful trying.

Picked this up tonight from Peterborough.  No marks, needs a good clean and it's got some overspray to remove but, not bad for £10.50 with mint rubber.
