Which Suspension?
« on: 09 August 2004, 11:36 »
I'm looking for some advice on best suspension to get and where from?

I'm trying to keep my Mk1 Golf Cab (83) standard as poss, but want to drop the car a bit but still have smooth driving ride.

I'll be looking to install the kit myself.

I have FK coilovers on mine - the handling is superb, but the ride is extremely hard.
Do you want comfort or handling?, coilovers or springs? How much do you want to spend?
It's a big world out there when it come to suspension
I don't own this anymore - I just can't be arsed to change the picture

coilovers are height and damping adjustable, or jujst height adjustable. Springs (lowered) just stay the same drop from the original height.

ive been waiting 12 weeks for my coilovers now, mainly because i went for the cheaper ones that are less mass procued than the FKs.

I may change to the more expensive FKs very soon. FED UP OF WAITING! (espeically with a  mint set of wheels taking up most of my bedroom!)

So I'm still a little confused as to what to go for? Any other people out there with mod suspension to tell me what you have and what your car ride is like?

If you are going to fit them yourself, you can get a set of FK coilovers for around ?400, then you will have another ?100 left over to get all the wheels laser aligned. It is worth having this done, but not essential.

looks like the FK's coilovers models are the one to go for - after feedback from various places.

thanks.
