Looks clean but I wouldn’t personally buy a 7 year old GTi with a stage 2 map. That’s an awful lot of power going through the front wheels. I would avoid but that’s just my opinion. It’s also a manual and as we all know here, if that car is on the standard clutch, there’s no way it’s not slipping badly at that power.

I have not seen the car yet so obviously not driven it yet. I currently have a Stage 1 Edition 35 which I had off my son but he wants it back off me so that’s why I’m looking for another car

As carbon says a stage 2 map will have destroyed the chocolate clutch of the mk7.

Also £14.5k is a lot of money for a car with nearly 80k on it with nothing of note actually on it, for the extra £2.5k I'd contact Ryan90GTi about his lovely example for sale (https://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=288076.0) at least you'll know it's been properly looked after and have a lot more spec!

I would say the fact that it's had 2 former keepers is a big plus, normally means it's been well kept, and it does sound like it's been a pre reg example with only one "real" former keeper.

Make sure you give it some beans if you do test drive it to make sure there's no clutch slip.

Ryan90GTi's example may be better specced but 'only 2.5k more' may be 2.5k too much for some.

Sadly Ryan’s car is 2.5k too much for me. I will ask the dealer if they have any details as to if there has been a clutch upgrade done and if so any paperwork to prove

Now now I didn't say 'only 2.5k more', I wish I had the Euromillion win to say it though.  I meant that since Ryan is removing modifications from his car at the minute to reduce his asking price, it might be worth enquiring as to what his planned new asking price will be as it may end up closer than you think. As well as you can tell a lot more of his cars ownership via forum posts versus an unknown car.

tbf, if I was to take the Belvedere's off mine along with the carbon rear brace we might not be a million miles away on price if you could stretch your budget a tad.

Although I would highly recommend the Belvedere's, they're a superb wheel and they make a massive improvement in how the car handles.
