This might explain why...not enough people bought them!

Interesting that the girl who owns that car had the same problem as me in that she originally wanted an R, but despite plenty of them out there couldn't find a good one. Every one I looked at was abused or had suspect history. GTIs seem to be better looked after by their owners.

Golf mk6 / Wagon owners! Spring/suspension set up?
« Last post by DrefachSi on 17 June 2025, 19:22 »
Evening all.

Just picked up my first wagon. It's on H&R coilovers but I live up a farm track so will be raising it slightly! I've got the original shocks in good condition but want to swap out the springs. Thinking 30mm back and 25mm front as a compromise. Anyone got a wagon with similar set up at all?

Cheers.

Asking £25k for a 5.5 - 6 year old Golf is one thing. Actually getting the asking price for it is another matter…….

You'd be surprised. I bought a 69 plate 7.5 GTI PP in January 2024, advertised for very similar to this one. I was checking every few days for good one owner and low mileage ones to come up and when I did see a few and I rang the dealers, I was always told reserve fee has been paid by someone else or it's sold now and we need to take the ad off. I then checked numerous times a day and the same morning this (my current car) popped up and I phoned them straight away and requested a walk around video and then paid a refundable reserve fee. Had to travel 3 hours the next day lol. Dealer was not budging at all with the price and said I am lucky to have paid a reserve fee as two others phoned up after me enquiring about it. Could all be fluff, but it had only done 15k miles and was mint. In the end I managed to get them to chuck in two free services.

It's been a great car and the residuals are very strong on the 7.5s. My local dealer told me last year that 7.5 GTIs are flying out as soon as they come in. I would expect it to be different now though as the 8.5 is a much improved car over the 8, but I think people were turning to the 7.5 hearing of all the issues some people were having with their mk8s.

Took my S3 to the bid winning dealer from Carwow, which just so happened to be 6 miles from home. Car had minimal appraisal and full amount given with no tyre kicking. They are a "prestige" used car dealers in Newcastle, and noticed they had a 2022 RS3 on the forecourt, so asked if they could give me a lift home in it. The guy waited until he got on the coast road (national speed limit dual carriageway (which was empty, then hoofed it from 50 to 113mph and then straight back down to 70, very impressed, not that I would be taking it above 80.

Cars and parts for sale / G60 Steering Wheel
« Last post by richie2480 on 17 June 2025, 13:12 »
Hello all, I have an original G60 leather steering wheel for sale. She is original black leather. There is a small hole at top of wheel. I am selling her as I now have replacement G60 wheel. This is for someone to recover themselves which could work out cheaper than buying one on line. I am looking for £70.00 which I think is reasonable when you consider you are paying £300 for a recovered one.

Many Thanks
Richard

I had Michelin Pilot Sport 4S fitted to replace whatever was on when I bought it (apologies but I can't remember the manufacturer) and the MP4S are a 100% improvement.
