TV to TV using wifi/network cable
« on: 11 February 2012, 12:25 »
Is there anyway I can send a HD picture from my sky box to my tv upstairs?

I know you are all thinking pay for multi room you tight b*stard... but I really dont want another box in my room as it will not look right with the rest of my setup and I dont really have room for it. Not to mention I dont need multiroom as I can watch TV downstairs and upstairs at the same time.

I do however have a few powerlink network thingys around my house so could easily plug into a socket... just wondering if its possible thats all  :undecided:

a quick google brings up this thread...

http://forums.thedigitalfix.com/forums/showthread.php?t=575539

which gives these results...

http://www.hdcable.co.uk/

http://www.hdcable.co.uk/hdmi/hdmi-distribution/hdmi-splitter

but also lists this...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B002ECYEYA/thedvdforums-21

which looks interesting

Thanks guy.. I just wonder if I could then plug this into my powerlink. If so then thats exactly the kind of thing I would be looking for!

Most likely HD Video over Cat5 wouldn't work through a homeplug/powerlink because it needs to be a direct point to point Cat5 cable.

If you want to run HDMI over Cat5, you want one of these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Extender-SINGLE-Cat5e-network-cable/dp/B003YSW66Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1329142575&sr=8-2

Or here's a dirt cheap one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Max-Value-1080P-Extender-CAT5E/dp/B0068FSE68/ref=pd_cp_ce_3

And unless you have 2 HDMI outputs on your Sky box, you'll need an HDMI splitter.
