hello everybody and welcome to my project thread.

the car is a mk2 gti 8v small bumper in white.
i got this golf back in 2006 as a replacement project for an MG ZR that i had been working on for 3 years.
the plan was to build a full on show car with the money i had made from selling the MG but buying a house soon used all the cash so the golf was up for sale. good news is the golf never sold and i still have it.

the plan is to make it into a track/strip car with the aim of running low 15 sec runs on the 1/4 mile.

progress so far
the first pic when i got it

some pics of the work so far.

completely strip the car out of everything i dont need.
removed the rusty wings and scraped them

things ive got to go back on

front wishbones which ive had powder coated
front and rear complete brake set ups
a set of 14" bbs rims waiting for some rubber
exhaust systems
radiator
sparco bucket seat
5 point harness
alloy fuel tank

things i need to do

remove rear beam and get powder coated
remove engine and clean up and rebuild it
cut and fit perspex windows
move battery to back
remove fuel tank and fit new alloy tank in boot
fit bucket seat and harness
buy and fit rollcage
smooth off the boot and cut away all unwanted weight
smooth off bumpers
recondition the wheels and get tyres

going to be doing all the work myself to save money.
cost to date is £90 for all the bits ive got and £200 for the car
total cost of £290

will keep you all updated of my progress
buy and fit new suspension repaint the whole car

been busy over the last couple of days, fitted my bucket seat, strip the front end even more and painted my wishbones and rad housing, going for the black/red colour scheme.
heres a pic of the wishbones and the rad housing, pics of seat to follow
