i get the doors and wings as and when i need them better doing the car like this so i dont scratch
anything easier to get the wiring done to :?
had the edge of the rear window and spoiler painted shiny black instead of matt like last time
also de-seamed under the rear lights

this is a old picture its got a 6 branch on it now manifold and a spare rocker is at the bodyshop
-
Sweet
-
hmmm fresh paint! love the brake light in the spoiler, it a zender spoiler? kepe up the good work
-
whats the polished pipe at the top right of the bay for?
-
heater intake used to be a sort of mesh grill before because its de scuttled i don't want engine fumes coming inside the car
so the pipe runs down the inner wing to close for comfort with the bonnet hinge though might just get away with it
-
Where did you get it back from?
I'm confused.
-
bodyshop been there since march lol

next sunday the engine is getting popped in if the weathers nice and all the front end on

I unscrewed the brackets and moved them along then i just used cable ties put them through the
holes on the clocks and round the brackets positioned them infront of the bracket rather then in it
sits closer to the dash then

pretty much as ive done mine, but with the mk3 clocks being bigger than the mk2 originals you struggle to see the temp/fuel gauges, indicator/full beam warning lights and the row of warning lights at the bottom of the clocks
i wonder if corrado clocks fit better?
-
i thought corrado clocks were even bigger

i thought corrado clocks were even bigger
theyre not as tall as mk3 clocks but would have to double check the width

Out of interest how did you keep the sticker on the slam panel when painting it white, is it a repro or did you mask it off and lacquer over the top of it?
Still can't believe how cool that bay is.

Looking good. Is that your battery positive running under the car?
probably want to move that to inside. I assume you dont have much interior inside at the moment. Its best to do it now, than have it snag on some thing later and have to rip it all out again

Glad to see its coming together
If I had to pick at anything (cos I'm like that, I'm the jealous sort), I'd remark that the slam panel would look nicer satin black rather than white. Mine was orange and it annoyed me as you could see it behind the grill, so I changed it
-
what if i painted the bottom half black i like it white in the bay never noticed until you said its going to bug me lol
-
Yep that would look good, its only the piece behind the grill/bumper than will annoy you over time, just like mine did
I bet you'll have it done tomorrow, its only 2 screws for the grill and 7 bolts for the slam panel
-
I absolutely love this car
-
back on the road finally  flew through its mot lost the logbook so had to apply for another
been on the road 2 weeks now hit my first snags
distributor has snapped all its wires inside so the power aint there £350 for a new one but managed to bag one for £60
inner c.v boot has exploded somehow so its going off the road tomorrow for the weekend to get a few jobs done and check everything is still tight and give it a good clean
all thats left to do is the headlining bit of re-trimming here and there
get the exhaust sorted
get a intake pipe made up and a new airfilter
-

Best of luck getting it sorted, at least it looks to be a simple repair. Looks great other than that
Fifft make some nice smoked front indicators - you can tell they are orange in certain light so don't look OTT. Set on mine:

Hi folks I'm back again golf is getting built up once again
Sad thing is the vr is out those days are over now
I'll miss the roar but had 3 vr6s engines now time to move on
Insurance paid out this year finally got a new rear bumper and lights
Currently fitting a abf now wiring is frying my brain but it's getting there
Couple of pics (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v229/Rob119/IMG_00000115_zps2979bdc0.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v229/Rob119/IMG_00000112_zps5aecd6c6.jpg)
-
i wondered where you'd gone! Give me a shout if you need any wiring diagrams off elsawin
-
yeah bad times i got made redundant the company relocated. only issue i have is when i took the vr loom out they was a couple of wires joined into the light loom i had to cut them. also i have no holes in the bulkhead i am feeding them through the chassis legs which does not fit lol
-
well im back again lol hopefully to stay this time i never got much time to visit as i had no computer
but i have a new job new computer so im ready to roll im now working as a miner under the north sea
as for the car i managed to keep hold of it thats still sat in the garage i took the abf out and sold it again i couldnt be bothered to get it up and running so im saving my pennies and setting my sights onto a R32 conversion when i find a good donor car
be a while before it takes off just yet ive just started putting bits and bobs back together but ill try keep updated regular and get back into the swing of things in the forum
