REBUILD ENGINE (mechanic required)
« on: 24 February 2014, 00:33 »
Hi, As iv decided to keep my 8v babe she is hitting her 157k its time engine was rebuilt as im keeping her and want to keep her in original condition as possible. maybe respray some parts to make it look fresher.
im looking for just a trust worthy reliable mehcanic around The East Midland or Near to Nottingham, but can travel to them if abit out, might need a gearbox sorting as she pop out of reverse when parked on hill, but not when on flat,
Im Honestly saying its a sick world out their, people not doing the work and just want the money thats why im asking on here...

I'd recommend BGK tuning in Leeds, shouldn't be too far from you

Stick the original grill back on instead of the de badged if keeping original.  Will look far better

Ive seen 80k mile engines sell for £50

For a rebuild you're gonna need crank grind, new main shells, big end shells, bore and hone, piston and piston rings. Then new valve seals, clean the valves etc. For a propa job your talking big money.  Do it cheap and you've just wasted your hard earned.

Look for a low mile 8v engine as they can be had for £50.

Oh just to add you could do a 1.8 20v turbo conversation for the cost of a full rebuild

Something to keep in mind

i take it that before you are planning a rebuild that the engine is pretty much f**ked? theresno pint in doing a full rebuild on an engine that is still running good, but as has been sad getting a second hand low mileage engine will a lot cheaper

Also you might think engine is nakered but if you replace all the sensors for engine running and injectors you find a few lost bhp's
