am i just being typically Scottish and tight?

Probably but who's judging  Surely you can find some cheaper than £88

Me, I'd only pay the £120 a corner if I was keeping the car long term.

I would not entrust a normal tyre retailer to change tyres on diamond cut wheels  - I will be taking mine to an alloy wheel specialist who will be more careful (I hope)!

Costco take good care of wheels, but insist the new tyres go on the back - there is no swaying them, so you need to swap wheels around yourself if you want the new ones on the front.

£108 a corner fitted for Michelin PS3s and a £30 Costco voucher (effectively £93 a corner fitted). I rotated mine in Sept, I think I just caught the fronts soon enough to still be legal on the back in March.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Ive been sh1tting myself for when the time comes to change tyres as obviously both the GTI and GTD have diamond cut alloy faces, and I have this irrational fear that the tyre company is going to damage them. Looking at your final picture it looks like the tyre company did a good job ?

Any worries or issues about removing the old tyres and fitting the new ones ?

If it's not a too personal question, how much did a set run you please ?

Thanks pal. I took the car to a friends garage in Ashton-In-Makerfield, Wigan as I know he looks after my car as if it was his own. The owners are a family full of petrolheads with all kinds of interesting stuff, BMW M5, Audi RS6, Porsche 991 Cab, Bently Arnarge T, Range Rover, Jag E-Type & MKII, 1963 Bentley S3, the list goes on!

Their wheel machine had a plastic bracket which meant it didn't mark the wheel so It was spot on. Furthermore, they let me remove the wheel weight stickies with tar remover before rebalancing so I couldn't ask for a better job.

Regarding the price... I have to admit that I didn't pay a penny for them. I'm doing a Winter Tyre Test for EVO Magazine so Michelin have supplied the tyres and I have to write 12 x reports over the next few months along with some live reporting from some car events. I know, I'm a jammy sod...

I've had a look on Event Tyres and they're charging between £150-170 depending on the speed rating. I have to say they're a brilliant tyre and are performing much better than the Bridgstones even in the dry. The last couple of days has been 4-5 degrees on my commute and the grip (and therefore confidence) they generate is amazing. Well impressed!

There is logic behind having the better tyres on the back of the car. If you lose control of the car you can steer and point your front wheels to try and prevent a spin but your rear wheels are just going to plough on straight ahead.

Also tyres with deep tread are less likely to puncture and it's much harder to control a car with a damaged rear tyre as there is no driver input.

Eibach spacers 10mm front, 15mm rears with 19" santiago rims. Dropped on VWR springs. Looks just right, not too low, not too rude boy. sharper handling and difference between comfort and sport suspension modes more noticeable - not uncomfortable in sport but suggest select comfort if passengers are of a certain age!

Decided to debadge the front and rear of the car before the no-marks in the area done it for me. Thus alleviating any damage to paintwork

Also fitted badgeskins vinyl stickers to VW emblems, front and rear, and to the GTI front grill badge.

Some pics  - car needs a clean and detail...when I get a day without interruptions to do it
