Quick update before the real work starts on Sunday
As you already know the pedalboxes are different in the early 8v's and aren't possibl to use for the hydro clutch set-up, heres a pic from the engine side of the bulk head through the hole the hydro clutch cylinder would fit
As you can see there is bracket running straight across the hole = TW4T
But, F17BAD's pedalbox is out now -
And the new pedalbox with DBW pedal should be all done by tomorrow morn
Whilst the steering column was out (Gotta come out for pedalbox removal) we decided to upgrade to a newer, adjustable one
New vs old
Stripped em both down
And re-built
Just to be another pain in the arse, the early 8v's had a different brake fluid reservoir, ALL the late models had the same one with a stem off the bottom end for hydro clutch, if on a late 8v it had a sealed end.
The early 8v's didnt have this stem at all, AND, the threads for the solid brake lines were smaller = TW4T
This meant we had to use the original reservoir bracket (the black one for the smaller threads) and the newer reservoir itself (the shiny lookin one with the stem off the side
The UJ boot was completely fooked
so Brad's ordered a new un from VW, £20 with VAT, should be here in the morn.
Thats about it for now kids, expect lots and lots and lots more from Sunday, woop
