Well the 8v box is rod shift and the 16v is cable shift, you need to salvage a Ibiza cupra i believe to do the swap.

had to jack it coz even with rear bumper removed the car was too low to get up the ramp haha


rod yea, but why cant i just change the whole lot out, id like to know if it is possible and what needs to be done rather than blut 1 liner replies haha

8v is rod change and cable clutch system, 16v is cable shift and Hydrolic clutch. These two systems are quite different and have different peddle boxes as well as the gear change and fluid/cable differences. It is doable but it would be a right pain and would make the 16v a pain to maintain in the future plus any savvy buyer would be put off by all the 8v stuff in it.

pedal box is exactly same mate

all the 8v stuff, its just a gear box, iv seen folk use this box in conversions on mk2 with ABF, is it really that hard a job to do. i just want the car ro run about in

The pedal box isn't teh same as Horney mentions due to the 8v having a cable operated clutch

Humm maybe the MKIII 16v still has a cable clutch then, was pretty sure they were hydro. Been a while since I had my head under a 16v so I'm sure some one else will confirm the clutch type. If it is a hydro one th epeddle box will be different to drive the cylinder.

Folks use the ABF gearbox in MKII's as it's stronger than the 8v one and the cable shift means you can mount the shifter up high in a track car.

The mk3 16v clutch is definitely hydro operated.

All Mk3 pedal boxes are the same but you will need to add the hydro clutch setup to yours if your using a 16v box.
