« on: 25 April 2008, 20:32 »
Hi guys well...

just recently started spraying my plastic bumpers in my colour code, basically metalic red/ burgundy.

did all the usual stuff, now iv sprayed a couple of coats of colour on em.

but the colour seems brighter that my car colour is this normal?

will it dim down after abit?

Cheers guys WK

probably a bad paint match. remember your original paint has had years of abuse from the sun etc so is more than likely different to how it was when it rolled out the factory.
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post

Is it 2 Stage paint needing a final coat of lacquer?

As Joe says, could be a poor paint match though, could always give the rest of the car a cut & polish to bring it up to scratch!

Upon getting my new badgeless grill to the painters, he took my petrol flap to the place he gets the paint done so they could match it perfectly to that.

Might be worth you doing the same to Halfords or something?

As above, on older cars never, ever just have paint made up from the code ! Always try and have it matched to the paint on your car and not the code that is on whatever paint scheme the supplier uses to mix their paints with.

Sometimes a few coats of laquer can tone it down a bit but it depends on the colour realy  :undecided:
