GAP insurance
« on: 12 June 2022, 15:30 »
Anyone have a good / competitive experience for GAP insurance recently? VW looking for £650 which I know I can beat easily. I have previously purchased from ALA and fortunately, never needed to use it.

Used ALA for both mine and the other half's car and found them about half the price of VW, then factor in a voucher code for another 10% or so off, winner.

Once you to the end of the GAP quote on ALA’s website, inserting discount code MSE25 in the ‘promotional code’ box (right hand side of screen), it’ll will give you a 25% discount off their normal prices.

Never ever buy VW branded GAP insurance from the VW dealer. It’s horrendously expensive because VW are being greedy by loading a large commission element into the price. IMHO it’s always better to deal direct with one of the GAP insurance providers.

Ahh yes, MSE25 is the code I used, forgot about that one.

I ended up getting 4 years GAP insurance for ½ price of what VW wanted.

Thanks SRGTD / madstaff for the tip re the code. You just saved me £69. As has been said elsewhere, 'Every little helps'. Thanks again. It paid for the additional premium my Mk 8 cost over the 7.5 for the remaining 6 months of my policy.

Hi all,

Looking at getting gap insurance for our new GTi, can anyone recommend any decent companies?

Also the car will be insured in my wife's name with me as an additional driver, does gap insurance work in the same way or do we need 2 policy's 1 in her name and another in mine?

First time doing so any help appreciated.

thanks

I have had numerous GAP policies from a range of companies. ALA are competitive and there’s usually a discount code from Money Saving Expert to reduce the cost. Normally one policy per car as general car insurance. Having said that, I’ve never needed to lodge a claim so untested in that respect.
