Hi, Do I need to declare getting a CSS Backbox on my Golf GTI PP to my insurer? It's not a stock GTI exhaust I know but it is a GTI exhaust, and direct and genuine from VW, where do I stand with this? Any help appreciated cheers

Technically it’s a deviation from the standard spec so should be declared.

However, so long as the attached pipe work hasn’t been obviously messed about with and silencers removed, bearing in mind the CSS back box looks like any other GTI back box to the unsuspecting eye and carries a VW stamp - well, personally I’d keep shtum.
If you were declaring a raft of modifications at the same time then maybe it would be worth mentioning it, but being as it adds not much more than a better exhaust note then maybe it’s best just kept to yourself.

Personal opinion mind, don’t blame me if your policy gets voided

Thanks for your thoughts! I'm thinking getting a res delete as well, so will probably just put both under generic exhaust modifications for insurance purposes, its only an extra £75 on my yearly insurance.
