infotainment upgrade/app

I've just purchased a 14 plate GTi, its a beauty.. However the infotainment screen looks old, is there a way ( ideally without upgrading screens etc) that I can improve this .... Is there a app that connects to the phone ?? I've read about car play??

if so is there a monthly fee >>> any ideas would be helpful

You may be able to activate Android Auto / Apple Carplay on it depending on the model, that's a one off charge, no ongoing costs. You may also be able to upgrade to a later head unit, take a look at https://www.vw-retrofit.co.uk/ for ideas.
